Route 66 Rendezvous Where the Cars are the Stars!
Greetings West Coast First Gen members this year’s meet is going to be held at
the 19th Annual Route 66 Rendezvous ® which is scheduled for September 18-21,
2008.
For the last six years, the Route 66 Rendezvous® has drawn over 500,000 car
enthusiasts and in 2007, nearly 1,900 classic vehicles for this 4-day, 3-night
cruising’ festival that covers 36 blocks of downtown San Bernardino. Members
attending the meet can not only enjoy the camaraderie of meeting your fellow
Monte Carlo enthusiasts but enjoy activities such as: Neon Light Cruise &
Contest, the Firestone Burnout & Flame Throwing Contest, Open Header Cruise &
Contest, the San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino Poker Run Contest, Free Live
Entertainment, Firefighter Competition, IEHP Rad Rider Show, Petting Zoo,
Celebrities, Awards, Vendors, and much more!
For Members who are traveling from out of the area to the meet I have chosen the

only 10 minutes away from San Bernardino and the Route 66 Rendezvous. The

ROUTE 66 REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:
Applications for Pre-Registration will not be available until the second week of
May. Pre-Registration runs from May to August 1st, 2008. The cost to register
your Monte will be $70. Your Registration fee will include: A Reserved Parking
Space with “Assigned Number” for the entire 4-days, two (2) participant
credentials, and one (1) official participant t-shirt, license plate, and dash
plaque. You will be eligible to participate at no charge in the neon light
contest, open header contest, and have an opportunity to receive a sponsor's
choice award.
However for the club to park as a group all applications must be submitted
together in one packet. Due to this fact I will be asking that all applications
be sent to me by June 1st, 2008, PM me for my mailing address
Also I've been told that spaces fill up pretty fast so it's going to be very
important that you not procrastinate on your registration or you might not be
able to park with the group. I suggest taking your pictures and making the
copies of your Montes DMV registration, Insurance and Drivers license copies
made early and have them waiting for the event registration to open.
ROUTE 66 VEHICLE RESTRICTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Current D.M.V. Registration, insurance, and driver's license as required by law.
Well maintained show quality vehicles. Paint & chrome must be presentable and
complete.
Primered vehicles are acceptable, BUT must be all one color clean primer.
Part-Primer, Part-Paint is NOT acceptable, nor is mismatched painted body parts.
Body damage, visible rust, broken glass or torn upholstery is NOT acceptable.
All street legal equipment (lights, etc.) is required on your vehicle.
Exceptions for minor items may be made at the discretion of the organizers.
Upon inspection of pre-registered vehicle, Organizers reserve the right to
revoke Registration. If revoked, fee will be refunded within three weeks after
event.
Street legal vehicles only, unless waived by Organizers in writing.
Vehicles activating hydraulics and/or air bags; flames from exhaust; obscene or
offensive artwork, signs, stickers, etc. are prohibited.
Open exhaust system rules are strictly enforced. Open Header Cruising': 12noon
to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20th only.
Unfortunately I know there is a few members whose Montes will not meet the
events strict guidelines. However I would still like to encourage those members
to come and join the rest of the group, as general admission to the event is
FREE and we would love to meet you, Monte or no Monte! I would like to try and
plan something that perhaps we can all get together outside of the car show and
would love any suggestions you might have.
