  1. Thats strange.... I wonder if western Canada actually imported theirs from a western US plant?
  2. I just did the same to the fronts.... When I got to the rears, it was like a horror movie in there. Seeing as how I can guarantee that all the parts under the drum are either original or from the mid-70's, I decided to bite the $$ bullet and buy all new assemblies from Year One. Basically about double the cost but 4 bolts instead of innumerable headaches.
  3. Cool. Mine was built in Oshawa as well around the middle of April. As far as I can tell, the original owner was a gentleman in Massachusetts who lived in the same town I grew up in. When I rescued it from the field, it still had a crumblin inspection sticker from 1976 on the windshield. Before that, it must have been driven pretty regularly, as it had about 76K miles. My wife is getting me the Canadian documentation package for Christmas, so hopefully I'll be able to get a bit more info on her.
  4. Ahhhhhhh..... Good to know. Learn something new every day! Thanks!
  5. Agreed, especially since I knew the build sheet was toast... The grass growing up through the hole beneath the rear window pretty much guaranteed that..,.
  6. Excellent! Thanks for the confirmation. Its nice having that cowl tag say Z20 right there....
  7. I'm the lucky owner of a 1971. Cottonwood Green with a Jade Green interior. From looking at the production numbers on the "Technical Information" page, it would appear that many people on this site believe only 147 1971 SS454's were produced. Does this seem right? And who else has one that's floating around here?
  8. Good morning gentlemen! Hey, I'm gathering the materials for my winter project: Putting a new headliner in my 71. Does anyone know for certain whether Chevelle and Monte headliner bows are interchangeable? Conversely, has anyone used ones from OPGI/Year One, etc? Do they fit/function well? I generally try and use original stuff when I can, but if they fit well, I will try new. Anyways, any opinions on this would be welcome. Thanks!

I love the fact that my 71 SS was Canadian built... Makes all my motor head friends jealous that Z20 is stamped right on the cowl tag where everyone can see it... lol
  10. Thanks soo much Dan! Have a great day!
  11. Thanks Dan! Much appreciated...
  12. Hello, Finally getting the nerve to attach my long-lost SS454 emblems to my fender moldings. Does anyone know what type of screws were used to attach them. I'm assuming its some sort of self-tapping with a flat head, but I was hoping somebody would have a correct answer or maybe even a pic.
  13. I used semi-gloss when I repainted my car. The original was very faded when I first remember seeing it, but you could tell it still had a small degree of glossiness to it.
  14. Yes, the HEI definitely DOES need vacuum to it in order to work properly... There should be line from the carb to a little bell-like thing next to the distributor cap. That is the vacuum advance unit and adjusts the timing as you are driving. Make sure it is connected and the hose is not cracked/frayed, etc... Is there any noise that accompanies the shuddering that you are feeling?
