  1. Cheers guys, yeah it's the stock block and oil is coming from somewhere down below the back of the intake manifold Distributor and around the dipstick are 'clean' as well as valve covers. I'll have a poke around for oil pressure lines and the sending unit.
  2. My SBC has developed a rather large oil leak in the past week, never had any issues with it leaking but now after driving it there's a good sized 8" round spot on the ground. I've cleaned everything off as best i can and the leak seems to be coming from the back of the block and it's running down onto the starter. Everything around the exhaust and valve covers is dry, nothing around the back of the manifold.... any idea where this could be coming from?
  3. You're all legends! thanks for the photo Dan, I made up some little clips and the trim is back on :)
  4. Legend, thanks Dan. I knew there had to be some sort of trim clip for the top half but there's nothing in my 'clip and mount' box for these... you don't happen to have a photo do you? Thanks Mick
  5. So I've started putting the trim back on after paint and something puzzled to me when I got around to the lower rear 1/4 trim... how does it attach? There's the 3 screw hols on the bottom under the fender lip but how does the top attach to stop it flapping around? I cant remember there being anything there when I took it off.
  6. Mine are keyed power, no issues. turn the car on, fans on.....turn the car off, fans off
  7. I agree with you man, there’s no argument that cars from the 50s, 60s and early 70s are cool, even a handful of late 70s/early 80s Aussie cars, the question is… is that the cut off? There’s not really been anything ‘special’ looking since the dawn of the new millennium, I honestly can’t remember anything that people are saying ‘that’s a future classic’ but did anyone say that when the 68 charger came out? 8. Thanks everyone, got the answer I was looking for and learned something as well Cheers Paul, I've got a fused wiring harness ready to go in (with direct battery connect) the 12v with the key on is just for the relay.
  9. A bit of a two part question here... with photos! I've recently changed the manifold/carb setup on my monte (originally 2barrel) to a 4 barrel setup and have done away with basically everything manifold and up. This has left a wiring harness from what I think is the the idle solenoid free. My question/s what did the idle solenoid do and two, what power is running through these wires? (please say 12v when the key is on) I'm hoping I can use them as a relay power for electric fans. thanks in advance forum legends.
  10. mate, you're an absolute legend!
  11. Cheers guys, yeah I figured the side mouldings were not factory, I've not seen any photos with them before and they are coming off permanently when I do the body work. Thanks for the replies everyone.
  12. As she sits right now, all original, minus the 30 year old respray... not many of these in Australia
  13. Hi Guys, Greatings from the land down under! first post here... I've been lurking around for a while and the resources and knowledge on here are amazing! I've had my 71 Monte since last October and I'm getting ready to take it off the road for a few months to give it some TLC, the first being fixing a dint in the rear 1/4 panel in front of the wheel. For the life of me I cant figure out how to get the trim off on the inside to get access behind the dint, can anyone help?
