  1. Engine building question; Big block Chevrolet, do you need to use the 8 inch harmonic balancer when a 11 inch clutch/168 tooth flywheel is used. An old time builder said you can use the smaller harmonic balancer but engine bearing life is shortened.
  2. In reference to springs at the begining of your post message. Take a look at Eaton Detroit Spring. They have been supplying leaf and coil springs since 1937. On their web site, www.eatonsprings.com, they say they can lower or raise coil springs up to 2 inches. I know this doesn't go with the carb gasket question but I will post it anyway. Hope it helps.
  3. Here is a really good resouce to use. Not on-line, just good old fashioned paperback printing. Chevrolet by the Numbers by Alan L. Colvin The book is based on material from Chevrolet archives. It will help identify and verify all V-8 drivetrain parts, both small block and big block. There are several books available. The 1970-1975 covers Monte Carlo and all the other Chevrolet passenger cars. If you have a Barnes and Noble store or check www.BentlyPublishers.com for availability
