  1. Speedo in my monte broke around 96k. Havent had the heart to fix it yet.
  2. Are you sure the jegs control arms fix geometry issues? I thought I'd read they were basically tubular control arms built to factory specs. I personally went with QA1 control arms and the Viking Performance coilover set front and rear.
  3. Took a good look on level ground in a parking lot today. Definitely sits higher in the rear. I will have to grab a pic sometime tomorrow.
  4. Drove around a bit more today. It is a noticeable difference in handling. I do have the coils wound up pretty high so that can affect the spring rates. I have all the coilovers set to the middle I believe to see if I need to change anything yet. Might be a tad too stiff a ride. I will say that greasing the upper and lower control arms etc, I never got a single squeak out of the bushings. I was expecting it to squeak a lot at first.
  5. Washed her up. Does it look level to you? It feels weird. Like the front is higher. Which I guess technically it is as the original springs were sagging badly.
  6. Needs a good wash. My dad has been working on his 66 Chevelle and hes at the bodywork stage. Dust everywhere
  7. Well 2 years later I finally finished the installation and took it for a first drive. I only eyeballed the alignment so its not perfect. First things first, it rides very firm. At least compared to what it was before. I added a rear swaybar while I was in there so that firmed up the body roll as well. Swapped my old aluminum wheels that were 225/60r15 all around. Now I am running 235/70r15 up front and 275/60r15 in the rear on corvette rallys.
  8. I havent received an email from the club since last year. That means I am most likely out of date, possibly by a long time. I bet I am one of the longest "5 year" members here. 😀
  9. I went with QA1 for tubular control arms. Street version. Comes with upper and lower balljoints. Nice looking unit and pretty stout.
  10. I have the ratcheting car dollies and they are good but if the casters get turned different directions, its hard to get the car started. Once they are going the right way its ok.
  11. I think I am up to date now. Just paid.
  12. So after humming and hawing about what I want to do with my front suspension, I decided to bite the bullet and get the set of QA1 upper and lower street control arms. Now I won't feel so bad putting the viking setup in. Anyone running the control arms? I am curious if they need a plate in the bottom to mount the shock to or if it has the stock bolt locations.
  13. Those are fantastic! Been looking for a week and haven't had any luck. Thanks!
  14. 307. Not sure if that was the original one or if it was a 305.
  15. Haven't been on much. Life has been crazy lately so haven't worked on many projects lately until recently. I'm looking for a wiring diagram for an 88 caprice. Previous owner cut out the ecu and converted it to straight carb. Doing so seems to have disabled the fuel gauge so I'm trying to find what I have to reconnect.
  16. Have my 71 monte that I've had for 14 years. Sort of running and driving though there are some issues that I'm going to try and take care of this year.
  17. thanks for the tip but I am specifically asking if they will work with a stock lower control arm. If funds allow, I will go to a decent quality set of tubular, but dont want to pull the front suspension apart yet if I cant fit the coilovers into the stock control arms
  18. I am curious about this kind of as well. I have a viking setup on the rear but haven't started the front yet. Was wondering if anyone whos done the front end viking setup, did you use stock lower control arms or go with something tubular?
  19. Greetings! Good to see there's more Ontarians out there! I am near Hamilton myself. Perhaps sometime in the spring/summer we can get together!
  20. I am looking for a manual trans as well. Only for a 454.
  21. I think the meaning of classics for today's cars will be different from the cars we currently refer to. These days, cars are differentiated by their options instead of styling differences. Rarity might be a deciding factor. Cars like the Dodge hellcat and demon are made in limited quantities but are still considered modern muscle. I too like the newer mustangs though I'll probably never be able to afford one. One caviat though is the longevity of electronics. Can't seem to get things to last more than a few years so we need a steady supply of components to keep them on the road.
  22. This all makes sense now. I have had coolant seeping on top of my intake ever since installing it as well as some oil.
  23. My Monte has has giving me starting issues this year though it's 99% due to an old battery. Pulled the battery from a wrecked car back in 2010 or 11. No idea how old it was then. This year it's been starting very hard and as the cold started coming in failing to start at all. Put my charger on it and even when it reads full, nothing more than maybe half a revolution. Tried boosting off my truck with no effect. Ultimately I disconnected the battery and cleaned the terminals and tried again. Nothing. What actually worked was removing the side posts from the cables and using jumpers right to the cables, boosting off my truck. Fired up really strong. Let it run for a minute while I moved my truck out of the way and when I went to leave the driveway in the car I stalled at the end. Wouldn't start! Time for a new battery?
  24. Has anyone done this mod? Come from this site. http://www.shiftworks.com/gauges-70-72-chevelle.htm Looking at the guage upgrade and replacing my broken clock for the tach.
