  1. It's funny you say that Scott, I was wondering after I get the new springs if I was gonna have clearance issues. It does sit a little lower in the front with spoiler and after the springs I know it's gonna start getting close... I've already been thinking about alternate routes I'm gonna have to take after I get her back on the road. We'll see... if I tear it off on an entrance to a driveway you can have it! Of course it'll probably be a little damaged after I rip it off the car and stomp on it a few times...
  2. Tim, it doesn't mount to the bumper. It's after the bumper but before the radiator support. And Bill I don't know if I'm going to make the hood functional yet. A couple of the fiberglass companies sell "air cleaner isolaton plates" It's and add on piece of glass that goes in the cowl, similar to what your composite hood has underneath.
  3. Yeah Jake it's actually a functional air dam. I think I'm gonna go one step further and add on to the spoiler to really force air in through the radiator, still have to do more planning though. When I put the 454 in there and order the 1" lowering springs from Hotchkis I think it's gonna look cool. And Allan it's the guy on Ebay Motors, Spoliers by Randy. Jakes' the one who gave me the link. Looks pretty nice and got here fast.
  4. Here's a few shots of the valance I put on the car today. It fits pretty good but I had to do a little modification to the bracket since I took the hood release off the car since it's a lift off now. Can't wait to pick up my new grille (the picture shows how the center is bent in a little, and the grille support isn't on the car right now so it's sitting kinda funny) and no thats not dust on the hood; I've been sanding on it trying to get it ready for some primer. Almost forgot, I mounted the hood spear too.
  5. I ended up buying one from VFN fiberglass. It looks and fits okay. Sam (Bones) got his glass hood from Carhoods (US Body; I think are the same company... at least their sites look similar) and he said he hates it. I don't know of any close to Washington but try VFN, Glasstek, and you might be able to find something with Harwood. Gas wasn't at $4.00 a gallon when I got mine shipped. But the gas wasn't $1.29 either so it should be pretty cheap. I think mine came outta Chicago to South Texas for $90.
  6. My cars definitely gonna be street driven. As hard as it's been for me to find nice Monte parts in San Antonio, I figure I can risk tearing up some glass (hopefully not, but...) replacement pieces. The original stuff is getting hard to come by, and it would be cheaper to buy new fiberglass panels than hurt my original ones. I'm still holding on to all my original parts just in case.

    New air filter

You beat me to it Allan! I was gonna say how in the Hel! did you get that picture?

    Tubing

I've seen the tubs for sale in Jeg's and Summit, and I know you can get some that aren't really that big. What all would be involved in a mini tub set up? How much bugger of a tire would you be able to squeeze under the car without major modification? I've always thought it would be so cool to have huge tubs on the car, but the type of work involved and the cost to do it (because I would NOT do it myself)is just too much. This is all way down the road, and I'm still undecided on the rim and tire set up but I'd like to have a 15x10 in the rear and a 15x8 (or maybe 15x6 ) up front, would a small tub swap be enough, and would I have to narrow the rear end? Like I said this is all a long way away, but it was brought up so I figured I'd ask.

    New air filter

I agree. Try to find something thinner.
  10. I haven't heard back from Andreas yet, but I want to get an opinion from you guys. I have switched everything over to LED on the car now now and was just wondering... do you think the bumper Andreas was thinking about getting rid of (has LED turn signals in it.)would be too much? My '72 has the turn lamps in the grille; do you think the lights in the bumper would be overkill? Like I said in an earlier post I would like to get a smooth glass bumper that looks stock, but might have to settle for a '70 or '71 and fill the holes later. The first two years of First Gens have solid grilles with lights in the bumper, would Andreas' make my front end look too busy?
  11. Sending you a PM right now
  12. Would a Chevelle glass bumper bolt up the same?
  13. I thought about using the '70 but want the car to appear stock. (But have everything glass ) My hood is a dead giveaway but I want the car to look correct fot 1972.
  14. I know this has come up before but does anyone know where to find '72 fiberglass front bumpers? I've seen them for '70 and '71 but not for my year.
  15. Well it looks like the drags this weekend will run till 2am, But unfortunately they will only be running 1/8 mile. Should still be pretty good racing though, theres a few real fast local cars.
  16. SAR is a little ways out from the Riverwalk but not too far. You could be there in no time... I'm always ready to meet members so if you want to get together I'll send you my number in a PM. First time to Texas, huh? I think you'll like it down here, we're getting a small cold front this weekend but the weather should be perfect.
  17. I've seen many, but your car is HANDS DOWN the baddest racecar I've ever seen! Your Monte RAAWKS!!! What class do you run in? You shooting for Pro Mod? Thats what I first thought it was. 1972 Pro Modified...man that would be sweet. Looks like your already there and beat me to it! You ever come down to Texas to run? Looked a little closer and your running Super Stock, so nevermind that question.
  18. Good deal Jake! Glad you got to be with your baby on your Birthday. She sounds great!
  19. My acceptance speech: "I'd like to thank all the little people, of course Chevrolet for designing the '72 Monte Carlo [the nicest year],and I just want to say you too can have a full PM box; all you have to do is bother everybody." Hehehehe.... Thanks guys I got the PM's and everything seems A-OK.
  20. OK... I guess I should've thought to clean it out before, actually I did erase a whole bunch of my messages about a few weeks ago after all this stuff started happening... So since I just erased 9 or 10 pages of messages hopefully this will work. I always kept the messages because I have club members phone numbers and have gone through three different cell phone companies in about the last six months. Somebody send me a PM! (it might show that I've read it, but if I don't reply it's because I didn't get it.) Heh... that rhymed.
  21. The past month or so my PM box has been on the fritz. Sometimes I get messages sometimes I don't. I sent Ian a message and he told me to disable my cookies (whatever that is ) and to erase any temporary internet files. He also told me to make sure I always logout of the Club, not just close the window. I'm using Internet Explorer but also have Firefox installed I just never use it. You might remember that my computer crashed but everything seemed to be fine. Can you give me a heads up on how to disable my cookies and do what Ian said needs to be done. Thanks in advice... No big fancy computer words! I know very little about my PC.
  22. Thanks for the heads up guys! The crank was an awesome find, and I learned something today too...(GM forged cranks for cheap) Really just getting started on the car and I still have alot to do. But that $1500 forged 496 kit sounds interesting... Once again, thanks guys
  23. Awesome Jake!!! Didn't know you were recording while on the phone; pretty good video for a multitasker Sounds Good. What kind of exhaust you gonna end up running? Or you gonna keep your original stuff?
  24. Well I got the motor and tranny home yesterday and it is a legit; non tall deck; 454. The heads aren't too great (peanut ports) but I'll make it work. The motors filthy but to my amazement it was super clean on the inside. Thanks for all the feedback from you guys ... I'm finally putting a Big Block in my Monte!!! I'll post some pictures as soon as I get a chance.(Gonna go play with my new toy)
  25. I feel the same way about my "new" Big Block. I've had three motors in the Monte and they were all small blocks; but nobody ever wanted to give up their Big motors. So I finally have one but wish I hadn't put money into the others...
