  1. CRV 3:31 Monte Carlo , CRW 4:10 LS6 Chevelle
  2. funny , some are made on the same dies , some are exclusive , some are shared back and forth , if you only knew Leo
  3. yes drum brakes could be ordered , seen a 1970 with drums and a powerglide from the factory Leo
  4. always thought that 1970 had disc emblem as you could get drum brakes on a 70 monte , 71-72 disc brakes were standard , that being said gm had a way of using up parts in the plant , so each plant may have had different stock volumns and carried the disc pad until inventory ran out , that was normal when i worked in the auto industry Leo
  5. discovered the notch out in the 72 upper tie bar years ago ,needed to clear the 72 grille , could late 71 cars have this new 72 upper tie bar for sure it is called a running change , worked 25 years building parts for production cars , could tell a million stories , if you new what i know about airbags you would drive with a helmet Leo
  6. there are several companies that do this service these guys i like , also remember there is a vin number stamped on MOST firewalls under the air box usually in 2 locations need to remove air box to see Leo http://www.datatags.com/
  7. datatags.com must own vehicle and show documentation such as you have talk to them very good source all legit perfect reproduction Leo
  8. we carry soffseal , full kit 324.95 gaskets and seals koniksklassiks.com Leo 810-334-4162
  9. After over 40 years of restoring and collecting cars you think i would know better by now , just keep saving rusty cars , major metal work everywhere in our shop and i am still looking at saving this 71 SS454 , all numbers matching sat for many years , needs 75% of the sheet metal replaced , we have done several worse projects but this is major , color combo is odd/rare and build sheet documented , black on black with a jade green interior , was from Greenbay WI and had a Greenbay packers key chain , guessing a fan , first we will take her apart document and decide , so far it has been a great reference point and a sign that i am still a nut that loves a challenge and yes we had to duct tape and chicken wire the car together to get it home , a good friend of mine had this car stored for 20 plus years and kept asking me are you sure you want it , OF COURSE YES still crazy after all these years if anyone knows any history on this car or previous ownership please let me know Leo
  10. we are a distributor for AMD ,GOODMARK , SHERMANS ,DYNACORN , AND OPGI , we have sold several hundred over the years and all fit well with a skilled installer, steel inner fenders become a big part of the entire front end build as they do not flex like original plastic/fiber inners , so when i am asked about fit , my first question is where is the rest of the front end how well are your fenders core support and such things as body bushings aligned every car is different , we sell mostly Dynacorn as we have had good luck with them , but all companies listed above share a lot of the tooling , some parts are unique to supplier many are stamped on the same tool and simply branded Leo
  11. All gm body gaps are .120 plus .080 minus .040 inch in other words .080 to .200 it is best to tram or align the front fenders and core support prior to aligning the hood , basically square up the front end to the cowl then align the hood , good hinges are a must Leo
  12. sorry should of looked at pics as i stated above is true , however pauls pics show the chrome version , the one with drilled holes was drilled by someone not gm , to use as the bullet style and not factory correct hope i confused everyone Leo
  13. The chrome plated version is for the chrome outside remote mirror , the brushed aluminum grained finish was used on all 71-72 montes that came with the painted bullet style mirror so they are both used on first gen montes ,depending on mirror Leo
  14. according to Gardner Exhaust yes they did , we installed them on a 71 SS we just completed , but i have never seen an original exhaust on montes we parted so i would say maybe yes Leo
