Vacuum Advance On HEI Distributor
stangeba replied to Whons's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
WOW, TCS! I remember it well because I removed it all from my 71 350 4bbl, in May of 1971. I have run ported since then. My brother in-law worked at Chevrolet in Warren Michigan at the Tech Center, in the engine department and he is the one who suggested I set it up this way. I had lots of fun hanging with him and his friends. -
Welcome to the club! Post some pictures, when you can, we love pictures!

FYI, don't use solid copper spark plug wires with PERTRONIX ignition system or that will cause it to fail! Probably nobody here uses solid copper spark plug wires but I wanted to pass this along.

71SS Restoration. Body pulled!

Looking Great!! Looking at the taillight areas reminded me of when I had my 71 (non SS) repainted in the 80's the area used as a reflector for the light bulbs was sprayed black, like my car. When all finished I noticed the taillights and turn signals did not look as bright as they did in the past. I removed the lenses, saw the black paint, sprayed that area white and the problem was solved. Just thought I would mention it for anyone else who is interested. I wonder if silver was used when built? I remember spraying flat black on the lower area of my black 71 Monte. You can't really tell since my car is all black, but I tried to keep most things correct. -
Are they long enough? 6.69" ??? My picture shows it to be a bit longer I believe.

Looks nice! Picture of the last one I purchased years ago. I think I got it from Capri Blasco, but I may be wrong.

I found this in my basement tool box, and was used in my 71 350 4bbl. (TS is short for tapered seat)

Question I had when I was forced to update to 11. How to I move start stop button back to the left side (like Windows 10) on Windows 11? For the answer, Check this link out! https://www.groovypost.com/howto/move-the-windows-11-start-button-to-the-left-corner/

Thanks for this information. I haven't look at this section in a long time. It is so well done and helpful.

Picture from my 71 Monte, of the ground mentioned, attached to the parking brake bracket. This also shows the "Parking Brake" switch. I forgot to hook it back up one time and drove several miles with the PB on!

That is so great to see that happen! I remember my 71 turned over when we were cruising Woodward!

Welcome to the club John! This is a great place to ask questions and get some help. -
It's Thanksgiving 2023 and our family is all here for dinner. My oldest Grandson has his learners permit so I let him drive my 71 Monte Carlo. We had a beautiful day here in Michigan so I went to start the Monte and the battery went dead. I attached jumper cables to it and it started right up. I see that it is charging so I backed it out of the garage and let Evan take over. He drove me all over the area for almost a hour. We had a great time. Evan said the steering is a bit loose and the brakes require more pressure to stop the car than he is used to. This was such a great thing for us remembering back to when we drove him to the Woodward Dream Cruise every summer. Picture from 2009 when he was very young and now:

Many years ago (Aug 1996) I replaced my stock AM/FM stereo with an aftermarket "Custom Autosound" Kenwood 800 AM/FM stereo for $399.00 + tax. It did have a plug in the rear, so I added a CD changer in the trunk. I bought the Kenwood 10 CD player, used, from my old boss, don't remember how much. The CD will skip at times when I drive over a bump but I like it, playing all my old CD's. -
Welcome Phil, great looking Monte!
