monte70car
Well picked up whats supposed to be an A body rear seat but the pattern doesn't match a Monte or Chevelle. When measuring the rear seat in my 70 it checks out to 52" from side to side where this seat checks out to be 51" side to side.
Jared Richey
Rob, that's a 70 Monte Carlo Rear Seat, atleast the pattern is anyway, identical to my 70.
monte70car
Jared even the top stitching is right for a 70? it looked to wide compare to some pictures I have seen.
cudax
I know my 70 looked exactly like that when I got it only in awesome green. Mike
monte70car
Spent a little time yesterday after getting back from dinner pulling the covers off the seat for a better look at the springs location. No changes need to be done to the seat bottom got it to lock in place. If you zoom in on the back of the seat you can see the tub is hitting three of the metal braces while the rest of the seat back needs to go back. So the game plan is to bend the two outer braces up to the springs the brace on the drivers side will be cut at the bottom and push over to the inside of the tub and move the mounting points to inside of the tubs as well. monte70car
got the seat springs painted this afternoon and even found the bottom arm rest to the rear. Still have the panel to put in that closes off the trunk to the rear seat, ran the rear speaker wire up to the deck the other week and got it running with the power window harness for the quarter windows. monte70car
Its been a while since I updated this post. So we forgo the 73 454 car motor on having it redone due to our work schedule and all the machine shops being close when we get home. Ended up pickup a 427 Tall deck motor which has 30k miles on it when pulled from a roofing companies tanker truck. Got the motor broke down to a complete long block - tins and the degrease the block which cleaned up well. Spent this afternoon and evening mocking up parts that were already on had for the 454 plus some new parts for the tall deck Thinking of throwing the EFI on the motor still have a extra Holley 750 on stand by plus the little Holley 600 that came with the motor. monte70car
Dropped the motor and trans in the 72. The extra weight of the motor got me with in a 1/4" of how low my 70 sites.

monte70car
Been almost two years since this project got started and its been a fun project to build, already looking for the finishing line or even a sale price. Yesterday the Hotchiks lowering springs and QA-1 shocks got dropped out in flavor of the Viking coil overs with 450LBS springs which is set at the lowest setting for the springs. Went ahead and bolt the hood back in first time since the 427 tall deck motor has been in the car and found out that the dual snorkel air clearer won't fit. If that is a sign on how the cowl induction air clearer is going to sit the snorkel on it might have to be reworked. Even thought its a work in progress it still looks mean just like that. monte70car
Shot a little color on the side of the car and broke it up with stock top trim. a black primer might make the colors darker but not sure if a darker color is what it needs.
dbreese
What an awesome project! Lots of blood, sweat and tears going into it for sure. Looking great! David
monte70car
Don't know about the blood but it has been alot of sweat in this project. I'll be glad just to have it done getting tired of pushing it in and out of the garage. Here lately its been adding bondo sand off bondo, lets try those two colors and get a color plan picked out. This is what we came up with Dark toreador red as the main body color and then the center of the cowl induction hood and roof black cherry pearl. The center of the hood looks like it will tie into the roof fine with the top trim and the body line on the hood.
dbreese
I like the colors. Cool!!! The compliment each other. David
monte70car
Lay some final color on the tail light extension today and must say the color turned out great for just throwing two items together. In the sun you can see all the metal flake and a hint of copper in the dark red paint.
GatorDog72
That color combo is gonna look real nice on that car, can't wait to see it!
monte70car
The trunk is getting one step closer on getting done. Went with a stand off bowtie instead cutting out the bowtie. Thinking 1/4" foam on the panels and maybe 3/8" on the bowtie to stand out a little more.
