overdrive
No plans for an overdrive at this time. I need to apply some more labels on parts under the car, some paint marks I found when I took the car apart, and get pics. Some closer pics under the hood..... Mo's70MCs
What a work of art. That jewl is so clean I'd be afraid to drive it. Nevertheless a slight modernization on a very well done and fittingly CONCOURS d'ELEGANCE contender. JMHO

Dans '70 Z20
Nice job! Really nice work there. I like the few upgrades while keeping a somewhat stock appearance. It’s always great when you are at the end of a restoration and appreciate all the hard work that went into it. ....... and realize you need a well deserved break. overdrive
Thanks to all! My daughter and I took the SS to town Saturday night for our local Throwback Cruise on Broadway. It's a twice a summer get together to get alot of people out of the house for the evening and cruise Broadway like we did years ago. It was a fun evening. The police had to bust some that were running with no mufflers, etc. They were busy. There's always some that have to push the limits. overdrive
I was able to get the 2.56 posi out this evening in about 2 hrs. I should be able to start putting the 3.55 under the car Thursday evening. Dan

Dans '70 Z20
Sure you got a lil more pep going to the 3:55's. Perfect all around gear. Dan
overdrive
Thank you, guys. The rear axle is working out great. It's a fun car. My new son inlaw had never ridden in it, until last night. I let him drive it in town for a bit, and then we switched. I may have scared him a little when I mashed it after I'd had to stop at an intersection. Dan
Rock
You have to burn that carbon out of the cylinders every now and tan
overdrive
Yes, I agree. I went to a car show at the Illinois Veterans Home yesterday and they always allow burnouts as the cars leave the show area, but still on the property. I took my turn and the car really came alive. I should have asked somebody to get video. I did a little more detailing Friday. Dan
overdrive
A friend found this photo that a professional took at the Veterans Home Show a few weeks ago. I've done a little more detailing and a few shows. We went to a show out in Kansas with 1907 vehicles, all 72 and older, and another at Springfield, Illinois with over 1000 vehicles. overdrive
Thanks. Yes, that's the spot they were allowing burnouts as we left the car show. I had a local guy make me a copy of the factory sticker that I believe was on my car, since it was used as an executive pool car. Finding the history on this car has been very fun. Thanks for the help with the sticker information, Joseph! Dan
joseph kehrer
dan the sticker did turn out well and the story behind it too. that was the finishing touch. your car should be complete now.

overdrive
The latest change to the car is a detent plate I made for the horseshoe shifter. I call it a True Slap detent plate because it allows the original shifter to be slap shifted from 1st to 2nd, and again from 2nd to 3rd. Shiftworks makes one that they call a slap shifter detent plate, but you actually have to squeeze and hold the shifter handle when you push the handle forward for a positve 1st - 2nd upshift. That's not slap shifting. I've gotten patent pending rights on my idea and will be selling them very soon. It made my car even more fun to drive. I also have designs for the overdrive transmissions. There are videos to show how they work that can be found on YouTube by searching the words True Slap detent. My new company name for my parts is DPJ Fabricating, LLC. And that included newish Mopars Corvettes and Mousestangs
overdrive
Thank you. Those big shows are in the Midwest, but not real close by. The one in Kansas was about 5 hrs away. We're going to the Street Machine Nationals in Du Quoin, Illinois in 2 weeks. That'll be a huge show. I went years ago, but this will be the first time with a car. overdrive
Some say they are never done, but I had no plans to be doing any repainting this soon. I had just left Sonic last night and was heading home. An idiot stopped behind me at a stop light, at least a full car length back. I had 2 or 3 vehicles in front of me, and I had left a few feet of extra space in the front. The idiot was an early 20s guy that thought that would be a great time to send or read a text message. I saw him put his head down as he was stopping. I watched the light change to green, and immediately the idiot floored it and hit me hard, damn near knocking my car into the pickup in front of me. I jumped out and started yelling at the idiot and inspecting the damage. He apologized over and over, but stayed in his car. He could easily read how pissed off I was. Since I saw him coming in the mirror an instant before impact, I released the brakes to try to minimize the rear damage, but immediately hit the pedal again and barely stopped short of hitting the truck. My first ever wreck. I have more work to do. I'll miss some shows that I had planned on participating in. Hagerty is supposed to be great to work with. We'll see.
