Installed the trunk weather stripping also. Then my pain meds wore off.
monte70car
Looks good Tony. Let see the 70 woke up from her long sleep so I could install the rear shock tower brace which aint finished, it's a pain in the read getting it in. Took a few pictures of the montes in their warm house but those will have to wait to be posted.
VETTEWITHLEGS
cleaned out space for the 71 Monte to park in the garage when she finally comes home with new paint after 3 years! I am now being told she'll be home in March! Hope so.
17TMC
Well today was fun. Went to a local salvage yard and picked up a rearend out of a 96 formula firebird. Why you ask? The discs brake brackets bolt up to a 12 bolt rear. Now I will have 11 inch rear discs for under 200$. And they were parting out a 72 Monte, not much there but a few things were there.

monte70car
It's been a long day got the UMI shock tower brace finally in the 70, it's a tight fit getting in place but its done none. Adjusted the coil over compression and rebound still got to adjust the ride height on the 72. Did bolt the hood back on for a little extra weight but no change
bigtankjones
Had a little set back today. I picked up my fender extensions Friday. I put on the front extensions and noticed they were brighter than the car. Called Dave my painter . He said he used a different spray gun cause the one he used on my car was acting up. He said he thought they were brighter to. Do I just dropped them back off to him. Can your see the difference?
orbit
I think I would have them resprayed. Especially after how nice the rest of the car turned out
cny first gen 71
I can see a slight difference or maybe just the angle, would have to see in person.
bigtankjones
The pieces are back out at the body shop to get re sprayed. I told Dave he could just re shoot the whole car to match the extensions.
Rob Peters
Tony, to me the extentions look just a little darker but not much. Good luck on the respray. rob
Leghome
I had a customer come into Anderson Auto Color here a couple of years ago complaining about me not mixing the correct color that he wanted. I opened the can and stirred it up and all of the metallic had settled in the bottom and he did not stir it enough. He resprayed and found it to be a perfect match. Also different air pressure or humidity can affect the ultimate outcome.
bigtankjones
Tony, to me the extentions look just a little darker but not much. Good luck on the respray. rob If you could see it in person. The metallic is more spread out on the car. Then on the extensions. I didn't realize a different gun would cause a different effect. Dave should of known in my opinion. Since he has been doing this for almost 30 years.

This may be true Tony but If he has numerous guns he may not have remembered which one he used on the body. Look on the bright side, he is a friend who is willing to respray them for you, some other places may have told you a line and charged you for the respray. Yes, it is a delay but really just a short one. rob

I just wish he would of warned me what happen instead of finding out after they where installed. I should see them in a few weeks.
whiskeytangofoxtrot
I picked up an all-original 1972 the other day that had spent its entire life in Tulsa with one owner having only driven it 53,000 miles. Only problem was what the Oklahoma sun did to the original factory paint. I enjoy old cars and I love finding original ones. I can usually do a lot with old paint but this one would be a challenge. The finish would've made a good chalkboard.
whiskeytangofoxtrot
(Continued) I picked up an all-original 1972 the other day that had spent its entire life in Tulsa with one owner having only driven it 53,000 miles. Only problem was what the Oklahoma sun did to the original factory paint. I enjoy old cars and I love finding original ones. I can usually do a lot with old paint but this one would be a challenge. The finish would've made a good chalkboard. It slowly started coming around. Had to use 800 grit to wet-sand the door and hood The hood looks better but I had to remove too much material to get a gloss and the hood showed "stripes"
