It is frustrating doing these custom things.

I now own a selection of tapered pin reamers because drilling out axle and hub flanges to accept larger studs is damn near impossible.

The little idiosyncrasies of going fast. The speed bug stings awful hard, much more agressive than the snowball effect.

I was wondering just yesterday if you ever got that detent plate installed, Vince.  Have fun driving your clutchless 4-speed!

Got the Monte out on Monday, my day off and washed and waxed her. Had the storage insurance taken off and reinstated the driving insurance part and took her for a ride. The Monte that is. 🤣

My garage/shop is coming along.  It is totally sheeted now and got a couple windows and a door installed.  It is really starting to look good...then I put the Monte in an the building started looking even better.

My late Uncle's 1971 Monte Carlo SS...

1 of 1919 produced, 1 of 147 produced
in Canada, 1 of 6 black on black produced
in Canada and 1 of 2 black on black with
buckets and console produced in Canada.

Lost in 1978 and Found in 2011.
The sorrow of what was once lost,
Is surpassed by the joy of it found.
What fuels us to persist in the search,
Are the memories that we hold dear.

I miss you Ron.

So, since Dennis sort of let the cat out the bag, I will go ahead and share.  I just bought another triple black 70 SS.  The car is nearly a twin (hence Dennis' reference to the "twins") to the one I already have except it does not have power windows or locks and is in MUCH nicer condition…other than that the cars are virtually identical.  This one is an all original mostly unmolested car with 26,000 original miles. Here is a link to the Craigslist ad.

I decided to buy this one because I can enjoy it (drive it) almost immediately and get started on the restoration of the other one as soon as the building is finished rather than wait for winter to start and then have nothing to enjoy for what will likely be a rather long time.

I would like to thank Dennis for going to look at this car for me and providing me with the assurance it is what the seller claims so that I could buy it.

Congratulations on your purchase of a twin to your other '70 triple-black SS, Steve!   It surely is a nice looking, running and driving survivor! I thought my comment was innocuous enough to let you announce your latest acquisition whenever you wanted - sorry.  BTW, the craigslist ad has been taken down but I assume the seller sent you some digital photos that you could post.  I think it deserves it own thread, especially if you have some photos to post.

Having more than one first gen Monte at one time really adds to the ownership experience, IMO.  With your new building, you can start a collection. Looking forward to seeing more of your latest SS and what your TLC will do for it.

Just touching up & polishing today.   ;)

PS:  Never noticed this before but my vehicle serial number is 536635 and would be correct reading in either direction, forward or reverse.

Also am suspicious my Heater Blower Motor is weak as the flow just doesn't feel like it's strong enough.  Measured the AMPS and RPM of the Motor and compared to brothers 65 Chevy, his fan motor runs almost 700             RPM faster than mine.  I believe I need to replace Fan Motor in car.

Well finished up the wiring for the EFI system and the MSD box. Still got wiring to do as the other power seat ain't done yet and the radio ain't done or the gauges under the dash.

Inching along!

I bought Edelbrock fuel rails and they don't match the injector locations???

A little research and I discovered raw fuel rail can be had for $11 a foot. I already own the two drill bit sizes, countersink and tap for -8AN so I just saved a bunch.

I beleive you need 10 ohm speakers for the original radio.
