* * * MUST READ * * * Policy for photo sizes in signatures

Concern has been raised again about the size of images in signatures, due, in part, to the slow speed of dial-up connections and the affect such large size pics would have on the viewing ability/ease of users.

Thus, please remember, as you create and consequently test your signature, to adhere to the size restriction (of pics) previously instituted here. [Failure to do so may result in dire consequences...such as having to purchase my '00 MC LS...so I can finally get back to a real MC (87 LS)]

THE POLICY FOR SIGNATURES

No image or combo of images used in or as a signature may exceed 25600 bytes, or 25KB (kilobytes). This provides fast viewing of message threads by dial-up users and preserves the bandwidth we are allotted by our server company. An image which is 25600 bytes or less is still of sufficient size and clarity to display whatever one might wish to display. It will also most likely eliminate the annoying occurrence of pictures that are so large it is necessary to scroll from side to side in order to read the text of the message.

If the image you are using in your signature is a little too large, you will be notified. Other images posted in the actual body of the message and not used as a signature may continue to be posted without restriction at this time so long as they are appropriate.

THE POLICY FOR AVATARS

The avatar is intended to be a small photo no more than 100 pixels wide. This allows the message board pages to be properly aligned. If larger photos are used, the page can become wider than 800 pixels which is wider than the screen for most people. You can display larger photos in your signature (see signature policy).

We appreciate your cooperation,
