omar
Hello members, I'm posting in this part of the section with hopes to get advice and help with my swap. I'm installing a CTSV/ZL1 6.2 supercharged ls motor with a 4l80e automatic transmission. I have installed the motor and transmission but still working on fabricating a crossmember or maybe buying one. What have you guys done as far as fuel tank or fuel setups for your ls swap. What about gauges? For the 4l80e folks what size driveshaft did you use or get?
monte70car
Take a look at http://www.tanksinc.com/ they have a fuel injection tank for our cars.
02blkss
Â I would recommend the tanks inc tank also. Â I used a ricks tank (which is really nice just pricey) on my LY6/4L80E swap, as the tanks inc. tank was not available. As far as the cross member I used the stock one. I may have cut the mount off and turned it around and welded it back on. I also had the stock drive shaft shortened but my car had a TH400 to start with. Bluemalibu
  Your going to have quite the impressive ride there, Omar!   I used the G-Force Performance RCAE4 cross-member. It is extremely well done.   http://www.amazon.com/G-Force-Performance-RCAE4-Double-Crossmember/dp/B00JLTVCS0   As for the drive-shaft, I chose to have a 3 1/2" chromoly tube cut and balanced, with billet chromoly 1350 yokes. http://www.jakesperformance.com/Slip_Yokes.html    Likewise, the pinion yoke was changed over to 1350 as well.  http://www.markwilliams.com/detail.aspx?ID=322    Only use the solid u-joints with your combo, not the greasable units.            Doug
omar
I really appreciate the input guys, thanks. I'll be getting a tanks Inc fuel tank then. I'm looking into the Aeromotive a1000 fuel pump since I plan on making over 600 rwhp. Anyone have experience with this pump? Â Today I tired cutting the mount off and flipping it but it just wasn't working. I then cut the crossmember into 3 pieces to extended it but ran out of wire on the welder so that was a fail. I'm just going to bite the bullet and get the g force crossmember
omar
Â I haven't done anything to the Monte in a while but the weather is starting to get cooler in Texas and I went ahead and ordered the connect and cruise wiring harness for the LSA and going to install it this weekend. Since I last posted I've installed LSSIMPLE lsa accessory brackets that allows me to run ls based truck accessories. I also got a great deal on ebay for a used g force crossmember that fits perfect. 502ci
 I'm looking into the Aeromotive a1000 fuel pump since I plan on making over 600 rwhp. Anyone have experience with this pump?    Awesome pump. I have had one on my car for over 13 years and not one problem.
omar
Wow 13 years. That's good to hear. I hope I have good luck with mine lasting that long. Going to order a tanks Inc efi tank and use the a1000. Hope I don't max it out on a 100 wet shot
footballubet
Nice project. I would love to do that someday.
vince
WOW!!! that’s an awesome setup. What kind of HP are you expecting to get?
omar
It's suppose to be rated at 556hp @ the crank as is, but I'm hoping with headers, tuning, and pulley swap should get over 600hp at the crank plus the 100 shot of juice. I've seen stock lsa ctsv dyno just over 500 rwhp with nothing but a tune. Goal for me is to run 7.00 index 1/8th
omar
The car currently looks like this and I plan on staying with a sleeper look. I plan on running a dual exhaust thru some magnaflows/borlas to keep it quiet. And for wheels I'ma just put 15x4 rally wheels in the front. Car is nicknamed "Bad Grandpa"

omar
A little updated on my build. I ordered a efi tank from TANKS Inc. Plus their fuel line and fittings kit. I choose to go with the walbro 400 pump for my build. I also got some fbody 98-02 ls1 1 3/4 stainless steel race headers from Speed Engineering. Alot cheaper then buying Abody specific ls swap headers. I installed the headers and the only problem I ran into was needing to cut off a tab/ear off the 4l80e passenger side. If I would've used a 4l60e I'm sure that wouldn't of been a problem. I had no other clearance issue with using fbody headers on the monte.

omar
New Headers, sparkplugs, wires, and steel inner fenders installed my engine bay is starting to finally come together.
Clever Idiot
Looks great! I know this thread is probably dead, but I'm hoping this gets seen. I'm laying out an LS3/4L60E install. Couple questions: Â Any clearance issues with steering linkage hitting the engine/oil pan, or the steering column with the headers? I see you said you had no other clearance issues but I didn't know if that was before steering column was in. I saw Super Chevy put an LSA in a 70 Chevelle and they had the linkage hitting, and the column looks like it barely cleared the stock manifolds. Â Which engine mounts did you go with?
mymontesa70
wow that is going to be one bad mofo. appreciate the pictures and build updates as i am also in process of a lq4 - 4l80e swap.  really appreciate the header tip, im trying to save a buck wherever i can. omar
Sorry I hadn't signed on in awhile but MCbeast, I based my build on that magazine build called "The Perfect match..." I have those magazines still expect 1 copy of May or June, but since that article showed where they trimmed, I did the same but once installed it would've been fine without the trimming. At the moment I'm waiting for my holley 302-1 since I'm currently running 2 inch BMR springs in the front and that pan sits 1 1/4 inch of the ground, now I'm installing new 1 inch drop BMR springs and Holley pan for piece of mind and clearance gains. I also don't have any clearance issues with headers and steering parts there's plenty of safe room with the headers I used. Â MY70 I feel you on the saving a buck, because that way you can put that extra cash towards more parts lol.
mymontesa70
omar right on i cant wait to see you finish. im a couple summers out with my other projects and how much i change my mind on stuff involving my builds.  are you still looking for gauges? a lot of guys here run dakota digitals. pretty much a direct swap plug and play especially with the ls. doesnt look out of place either. they are not cheap though! i waited for car craft show to come around and i bought mine right there for 700 something. i think they are almost 900 msrp  http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=803/prd803.htm
