Have installed 15x8s (offset stock: 4" or 4 1/4") Corvette Rallys on rear without quarter panel interference. Car has new rear springs and probably is near 1" higher than stock. Run'n 255x60x15 rear tires. Ed

Andrew,

You can fit a rim with 5.5" BS on the rear but do not want to go past 4.5 on the front

Ideally IMO the perfect rear wheel combination is a 15x8 with a 5" BS and a 275/60/15 tire. Wheel Vintiques sells 15x8 raqlleys with 5" BS. I have 2 of these and used them to run BFG Drag Radials 5 years ago. They fit perfect with a 275/60/15.

Right now I run 15x10 with 5.5 BS to fit as big a tire I can under there. I did have to trim the lip and the chrome moulding to fit the 13.5" section width in there.

a 225/70/15 on the front works great with a 15x7 ralley with 4 1/4 to 4 1/2 BS

If you have anymore specific questions please don't hesitate. I have used just about every combination of rims and tires on my Montes.

mc71454, Is it possible to run a rear 15x10 with greater than 5.5BS and avoid trimming

the quarter panel lip and chrome? Thanks, Ed

Ed,

the 5.5 is pretty close to the shock mount. If you relocate the shock mount and trim the old mount it may work with the inside of the wheel well opening. BUt you have to account for manufacturing tolerances including the centering of your rear in the car.

Also For example: Centerline uses whole number Back spacings but their 5" BS actually measures 4 7/8" so their 6" may be 5 7/8" or 5 3/4"

I had to trim for the Hoosier QT Pro's I use at the track where more tire the better.

what is your intended use?

Tom

had a set of 15x10 rally wheels with 295/50 on them 5" backspacing had to trim the quarter panle lips a lil. now im runin 16x8 chrome rallys with 255/50 on the back. if u can find a 15x10 rim with a 4" or 4.5" backspacing u might not have to trim the quarter panle. the 15x10 that were on my monte is on a 57 nomad and we cut the spot welds and kncoked the hub out about a .5" to 1".

I am going for the look of really really wide tires in back and a bit smaller in teh front, but i dont want to alter my quarter pannels. If you know what would satisfy my want id be glad to hear it.

Andrew,

A 15x10 with a 5.5" BS with a 295/50/15 tire will likely work. That's what I run for a street tire in the back and a 215/70/15 in the front has a nice stance to it without getting too narrow in the front. I like it to still handle decently and our Montes are pretty heavy in the front.

I can measure how much room I have to the fender lip with the 295's on there and let you know tomorrow.

Too bad you couldn't make it over to my house and try on one of the wheels.

here is a pic from the back.

speaking of tires, I have an interesting situation

I have 240/55-415 wheels and tires

yes I know, they're wierd

they're metric TRX wheels

415mm diameter = 16.3 inches roughly, and I really like how the size looks with the car, so I was thinking about a 245/55-16 wheel and tire .. they're reasonably afordable heh

think this size sounds like it might look alright:? smile.gif
