INTERIOR - Interior Door Straps

Anybody found a source for interior door straps? I am changing the color of my interior to black and cannot locate a source for these. In lieu of that, anybody had experience dying these? What dye did you use? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nope, they are not reproduced by anyone...

I found one in good condition on ebay...

Best bet are swapmeets or junkyards...

When I changed my '72 Cutlass from brown to black interior, I had the door handle straps dyed by a trim shop. They've held up fine and look great.

Check late 60's early 70's Caddys. They use the same pull strap and hardware. I've also seen them on GMC motor homes of the 70's. The for sale board has someone selling lots of 71 parts. There may be some in his list. There is always Hemmings at any large book store.

When I changed my interior to black, I used a paint from SEMS if I recall. I used it on all the soft parts, I.E. the dash, door panels, etc. It turned out great. I do not recommend using the bonding clear the sell to spray under it. I used it on some of the first few parts I sprayed, and it the black lifts off in places. The stuff I just put the paint on held up great. I will see if I can dig up a can of it if you want the part number.
