1970 Green Machine
Hello everyone. I am planning on having my pinion seal replaced and having the rear end fluid drained and putting new fluid in, since the fluid is from 1970, LOL. Anyways, my question is this; when I go to replace the 12 bolt gasket, do I need to use silicone to help seal it? Or will the cork gasket by itself be enough? Thanks to all that view and comment below. Much appreciated!
John S
I used a small amount of silicone on the cover side only. If I remember correctly the gasket is fiber not cork. I also tapped the bolt holes in the cover with a hammer to level any distortion due to overtightening the cover bolts.
cny first gen 71
I used a thin film on both sides also.
