Antifreeze mix?

I was always told you have to add some water.

Some people insist it must be a certain type of water (I.E. not high mineral count well water)

Now they sell it ready to use so you don't add anything. Sounds like you are paying for part water but if all you have is a hard water well, then go for it.

If you don't pull the block drain plugs, some water from your flush will remain and cause the mixture to be slightly more diluted that you may have planed on. How much water is left, if you don't drain the block?

How long it it good for? I think mine is now 7 years old since I replaced the heater core.

WOW, time sure passes quickly.

Correction, 8 years.

Use a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. The distilled water does make a difference, regular tap water will cause corrosion and deposits much faster. I used to just fill mine with the garden hose until I found my thermostat housing almost completely clogged with gunk. Or just use the pre-diluted coolant, but its more expensive.

Thanks all, am looking at this one

How many gallons do I need?

And if I drained the blovk, how do I seal it back on?

Here is what capacities are based on specs for each Factory Engine Displacement/Radiator capacity.  Straight antifreeze will cause engine temps to rise reducing engine temp performance.  50/50 Mix is what is advised.

Open the petcock l/h bottom inside edge of Radiator to release the water from radiator.  When drained, close petcock completely before refilling radiator.  If this is what you mean't.  There is always some water left internally as gravity alone will not let it all flow out.  Unless concerned with contamination in Radiator, the amount left trapped in engine block under normal conditions should not create a problem

350 CI - 16 QTS = 4 Gallons

402 CI - 24 QTS = 6 Gallons

454 CI - 23 QTS = 6 Gallons
