LOWER TRIM-GLOSS OR SEMI GLOSS BLACK?

JUBAL

Recommended Posts

I'm putting my '72 back together now, fresh from the painter.  I'm not replacing my lower trim yet and want to clean up the trim.

Is the black gloss or semi-gloss?

On the back panel that goes across the tail and also the chrome above the tail lights.  Gloss or semi-gloss?  I'm trying to do it now so any immediate response is welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

SEM trim black part number 39143 is a great match. I have used it for years on several different cars and they all came looking factory.

post-5890-0-33049100-1494385732_thumb.jpgThanks.  Thirty years ago I used gloss black when it did not matter to me.

Things like that matter more now.

I use the dupli color satin wheel paint on a lot of parts I have painted on my 68 c10, it drys fast and is very durable and is available at your local auto parts stores. But yes definitely satin or semi gloss, my preference is satin.

Jubal, I was the same  :nutz:  crazy how things change in your mind as you get older huh ? lol

When I first read this, I was thinking about the low gloss black, that was sprayed on most of our cars from the factory, on the lower ~ 3" of the sides. My car is black but still had the low gloss black sprayed there under the moldings and on the door sill area.

I see you are talking about the moldings and I also say a low gloss black is correct.

So, is your car's lower body area sprayed low gloss black?
