Seems like a silly question in this day and age with cars having a cup holder (sometimes two) for every passenger and the driver but what are folks using to hold their drink while cruising?  Surely there is something better than the old school cup holders that hang from the window/door.

http://www.cupholdersplus.com/ Steve, check out this site,   The plug n' chug section..........

It's a dual cupholder that fits in place of the ashtray.  I used one of their consoles when swapped out bench seat for buckets. Quality products!

Steve,

I have one of these in each of my 70's.  Mine are both black.

I tuck them out of sight under my driver's seat until I need one,  then I insert the wedge/paddle between the passenger's bucket seat and console.  The wedge is offset so you can position the cups over the console or over the passenger's seat (if you are driving alone and need more room..  I find that they work well and are out of sight when I don't need them.  Recently price-reduced from Walmart although other places sell them, too.

I actually got one of mine at a garage sale for $1!

I like the looks of the Plug-n-Chug one for the 70-72 Chevelle.

Murphy can you tell me does it permanently replace the ashtray or does it somehow fit into the ashtray?

I like this too. And they come in many colors!

Murphy, can you post up a pic of it in place?

I don't have one of the ashtray units, I just recalled them on the website when I purchased my center hump console unit. I will say that the material used is the same madrid pattern as the factory vinyl.

I also purchased one. Have the eastern meet trip coming up and will need a cup holder for Linda and I. I like that you can order specific colors.

Update! I got the cup holder in the mail already, so I can say shipping was very fast. The downside? It will fit cans and bottles, but not my yeti cup. I think I will keep it and carry a backseat cooler with cans and bottles, and that will work just fine.
