Door handle removal? + body questions

Recommended Posts

I have seen some montes with no door handle. I like the look it has but how do you do it? How hard is it? how do you open the door? Also, Can fiberglass fenders, hood, bumpers, and trunklid as well as door panels blend in with the metal and not look odd? And does anyone know how to attach fiberglass door skins? what is the best way to paint a car that has both fiberglass and metal? Can I do the bodywork on my own at home if I have the time? What I mean is will it look right if I take my time and am careful? I have so much ambition for this car it will be insane. thanks

when u shave the door handles u weld in plate to cover the holes. i did this to my monte and the lil black box the open the doors went out so i went back to the chrome door handles. the pull to open the door would always get lose and need to be retight. u can do body work at home it takes time to get the body stright and prefect.

OK shaved door handles are a pretty large project and it depends on how you go about it. I did mine useing the factory door latches moved into the door pilliar and modified. of course this is most likely the very hardest most involved route i could have went. You could simply add a solenoid to your stock latches and just close over the handle holes. On your second questions about all of the fiberglass. My opinion is that you shouldn't consider fiberglass spend the extra money and get good sheetmetal. If you are going to try and put that much fiberglass on a car and have no experience you will be very dissapointed with the amount of work involved in getting the thing to look good. My fenders, hood and bumpers are all glass. They requires a ton of body work to get looking good and straight. They are not obviously glass but it was a lot of hard work getting them there. For someone with limited experience the extra money required to get the right parts saves un imaginable time in makeing what you thought was going to be the cheaper route work. Not trying to say that i would never do it again just warning that there is a significant amount of problems involved if your intrested pm me and ill go into some of them.
