stangeba
I was at a car show today in Shelby Township, Michigan and talked to the owner of a very nice black 70 Monte, with a non stock 454 in it. Another gentleman joined in our discussion saying how when he owned a 1970 SS 454 Monte, he buried the speedometer one time racing. He then went on to say how only 70 SS 454 Monte's had a speedometer that went to 140 or 160. I told him I had never heard of that but didn't have any proof. Is there any truth to his story? MCfan
Well, dang ... my '70 SS speedometer only goes to 120 .. no wonder it is so easy to peg! Guess everything is bigger and faster when you're bench racing!
stangeba
Ya, he was bench racing alright. My Buick LaCrosse speedometer goes to 170! I remember when the top speedometer reading on some new cars in the 1980's, was only 85, after the speed limit was reduced to 55. MCfan
Dennis - the new pictures of your cars in your signature look awesome. Thanks, Steve! Since Photobucket decided to start charging for third party hosting of their content, I had to upload photos to our club website gallery and post them from there. I decided to insert a couple of new "poses", although they aren't the most recent photos. The background of Charlotte Harbor and the Punta Gorda Boat Club are characteristic of where the blue '70 lives and plays while the autumn trees are more representative of the wooded country where the gold '70 SS lives. I think you are the only person other than my immediate family that has actually seen both of my Montes!
