Little hard to start after rebuilding carb?

I had my 4bbl Rochester rebuilt by local shop and got Monte back yesterday, it drove much better. But noticed little harder to start as had to pump gas to get it started as I didn't have to do that before rebuilt. Any suggestions or ideas as I will talk w shop next week.

guess I was expecting it to do same as new cars, gave it couple of pump which started fine.

Noticed that the mechanic who rebuilt the carb didnt attach this to carb as previous owner didnt attach it. do i need to attach it to carb?

OK, as Bruce said here http://www.firstgenmc.com/forums/index.php?/topic/16288-downshift-cable-question/?fromsearch=1 to have carb full open and gas pedal full down before attaching the cable. Two questions here:

1. I have 4 4bbl, doea that meant I would need to see 4 barrels by opening it up?

2. what holds the kickdown cable as it seems I'm missing clip of some kind?

Rick usually once its at wide open throttle being a Q-jet  only the front will open. What holds the lockdown cable in place is a e-clip the stud should have a provision for one. On a stock stud it is flared at the end which the over size hole slips on. Not on my usually system so I can't provide pictures of the two different studs.
