stangeba
OK, he is the answer......... It was not on any of our first gen's BUT! Does anyone remember the safety belt interlock system that prevented your new 1974 passenger car from starting unless you had the safety belt fastened? I was reminded of it this week, by a very nice older woman, while waiting at a Dr. office. She saw my Woodward Dream cruise shirt and started talking to my wife and I about cars and if we remembered this system. I told her I remembered it well and how the customers (I worked at Russ Milne Ford service dept. then) were not happy at all. I found this article all about it, because I couldn't remember what year it started. Do you remember it? I think it was recalled and removed after only several months. http://www.thedetroitbureau.com/2009/11/the-great-safety-belt-interlock-fiasco/ Short lived item. LS5
I do remember that Bruce, Sadly in some ways that promoted people to not wear seatbelts instead of wearing them.... How you ask...... people that owned a 1974 vehicle automatically did up all the belts whilst not in the car and then just simply hopped in the car next time and drove without touching the belts as they were already buckled and just drove with no headache as the safety was bypassed.
