ZeroMick
My SBC has developed a rather large oil leak in the past week, never had any issues with it leaking but now after driving it there's a good sized 8" round spot on the ground. I've cleaned everything off as best i can and the leak seems to be coming from the back of the block and it's running down onto the starter. Everything around the exhaust and valve covers is dry, nothing around the back of the manifold.... any idea where this could be coming from? 72-CLASSIC_RIDE
Check around the Distributor and any oil pressure line(s) that come out of the Block that may be positioned in that area of the puddle you saw. What about the Dip Stick Tube? I am assuming the oil is dripping down from below the Intake Manifold? Hope you find it and it's an easy fix. Mo's70MCs
Stock block? How about the oil pressure sending unit? They have a tendency to leak.
Leghome
Back of the valve cover is one of the leas I had along with the sending unit
ZeroMick
Cheers guys, yeah it's the stock block and oil is coming from somewhere down below the back of the intake manifold Distributor and around the dipstick are 'clean' as well as valve covers. I'll have a poke around for oil pressure lines and the sending unit.
