Then a set of Airlift 1000 air bags. A new set of 15-8 rally wheels with 4.5” backspace with some 255-60’s. Last winter I bought a 350 Vortec from my buddy that raced it for 2 seasons. It was originally built by Miller Racing Engines in Winkler Manitoba. It has 4 bolt mains, high volume oil pump,9.5-1 compression pistons, custom ground Lunati cam, heads ported and polished with complete Comp valve train, Edelbrock performer and 1406 carb, Mallory HEI, Headman Elite headers. I tore it apart and replaced all the bearings, rings and valve seals. Rehoned it as a few of the cylinder walls had a bit of scarring. He had been running a hundred shot of nitros. Cleaned up pretty good for the rpm I will be running. Had to make the power steering mounts, throttle linkage and kickdown, but they turned out great. Runs like a frickin dream! I’m hoping to find a posi this winter with a little better gears. It’s got the old 2.73 BOP. Great gas mileage though. I would like to thank everyone on here for taking the time to answer some stupid questions. Very much appreciated. I grazed the archives for hours researching. What a wealth of information in FGMCC!!!599F00BD-8888-467F-8201-AECB9B50DB05.thumb.png.59ec7f75ab8fcab53222dc170340b953.png9035D5E2-FA46-4AE1-B3F7-6E8EFD7723A8.thumb.png.4056fb0876fd36665c3cd302cf4f13e1.png188903BE-08AC-4E8A-9CF3-40199B84EC49.thumb.png.748d1cc1707597cc8e3596000cdf3f18.pngD9F43FC5-B93A-4BAA-9E3F-01E98BAAD32B.thumb.png.53a17c12b765c9004929a0aed60c4d33.png

Your '70 is stunning, Dale - what an incredible wax job!  I'll bet you hesitate to drive it on any non-paved roads!

Thanks for sharing all you've done to enhance the performance and enjoyment of your Monte.  She must be great fun to show and drive. You'll enjoy her even more when you get some peppier gears and a posi swapped in. I know I enjoy driving my '70 that has had many modifications and enhancements more than my virtually stock '70 SS.  Tailoring a vehicle to one's personal preferences can be the best part of the ownership experience.

Love the stance - how much pressure are you running in your air bags to achieve that?
