Leghome
Went to a car show on the west INDY and when I had the AC running it was showing 220 degrees with a 180 thermostat. It is time to upgrade to aluminum and maybe electric fans. How high of an amp alternator should I have. My present one when checked last year was putting out 95 to 100 amps. MC1of80
If it was a hot, humid day I feel 220 is fine. I personally have always used 160 degree thermostats in the old beasts and they rarely went over 180. I know your running a Chevy but my Pontiacs all run 220 with a 160 thermostat in the summer with the a/c on. The Pontiacs just inherently run hot. I also run 4 core radiators in everything. My son just put an aluminum rad in his 69 GTO convertible. Said it dropped around 10-15 degrees from where it used to run.
