2ndknight
Good evening everyone, I picked a EFI system from F.A.S.T. (EZ-EFI) kit # 30226-06kit. Not being a wiring/electrical mad scientist, i'm a bit confused! Getting the dist. , coil, and rpm module hooked up is daunting to me. I've included pics of the instructions for this particular step and my set up. Maybe I have too much or not enough of what I need. The dist. is a ready to run hei with no tach- in connection. Any advice will be greatly welcomed. Sorry about the size of pics! John
714024SPEED
When I did my Msd atomic EFI I had the same type of problem without a clean tach signal to hook up to. I tried a MSD module it worked for alittle bit but used the signal from the coil witch is not a clean signal kept fouling out o2 sensor. Your best bet is to get an MSD style multiple spark box like a 6a or 6al. It has a dedicated tach signal. Good luck
Paul Bell
John, exactly what distributor is it?
2ndknight
Thanks for the replies gentlemen, Paul - the dist. is from Scorpion Ignition, it's a knock off of a MSD , ready to run hei. Probably not the best choice but i'm going with it anyway for now. Kevin - dumb question here, would I use the 6a in conjunction with the coil ? Also in the pic of the wires i'm holding, there is a plug and ground wire...not sure where these hook up...i'm assuming the ignition box. This novice appreciates your patience and knowledge! Paul Bell
It looks like it's their 7000 series Ready-to-Run Electronic distributor with two wires. These throttle body fuel injection systems can run without controlling the ignition, they just need a tach signal. What does the Scorpion instruction say? I believe " Ready-to-Run" means it'll drive an ignition coil directly so you shouldn't need an ignition box.
714024SPEED
Hi John yes you would be able to use your coil with the MSD and the distributor you have.
