Guest shawnee2 Posted October 14, 2007 Share Posted October 14, 2007 I'm about ready to start on some body work on a 70 model and ran into a few questions areas. How do you remove the rocker panel trim clips without loosing the back part inside the rocker panel? One the vinyl top, how do you remove the trim pieces around the back area and lower side. Is there a way to get the vinyl loose and possibly peel it back to save so I can work on the rusted window area. My top is is great shape so I don't want to replace if I don't have too. montefrazer Posted October 15, 2007 Share Posted October 15, 2007 For the vinyl top trim, the pot metal parts at the lower corners are held on with one speed nut inside the trunk. The nut is usually hidden under some sealer to prevent leaks. The rest of the trim just pops off plastic clips. You can peel back the top and reuse it. Be very careful when you try this since it's easy to rip the top while pulling on it. Rocker panel clips just pull out. Easier said than done.
