NEW TOTAL HARNESS, ANY THOUGHTS?

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting to get new wiring for a frame-off 71, anybody have any feelings good or bad on the number of companies offering such harnesses? Naturally I'm looking for the most painless (no pun intended) set-up. Cost is not a factor, but it is for quality. Please help!!! smile

I would also like to rewire my monte, and I like the products from M and H, but if I opted for that, are those enough for all the new fangled technology? Being as they're manufactured exactly as a stock harness? I know nothing about electrical wiring so I'm not sure if thats what would be right for me. I would like to modify my car and go to an EFI system and maybe an MSD digital ignition and who knows what else. Would I be ok with what they're offering or should I look into some custom electrical components? Thanks!

Got most of my M and H wiring harness delivered. Looks real good. I haven't installed it yet but what I've seen it is exactly a match to original specs except I had them wire in for a HEI distributer for an extra 14.00. So I sure you could get them to modify these harnesses more than this. I got the entire harness for alittle over 1200.00. including the fiber optic ashtry light and the extra under dash courtesy lights. I will post again when I install, but for now M and H was worth the money, especially if your not an electronics genius. fgmcc

It's pretty neat that they can add the wiring for the HEI, but the power source and the distributor are in locations that don't change. I was thinking that it would be near impossible for them to create a harness for EFI. I just don't see how they could route all the wires if they don't know the location you have installed the computer for the injection, or the exact spot you installed the oxygen sensor, or fuel pump, etc. MSD boxes and coils...even elecrtic fans would be tough for them to incorporate into a harness because of the custom locations we find for these add-ons. If they made a harness, you would have to install your components to meet up with the ends of their wires.

I know the EFI makers supply their own harness to get everything hooked up; maybe the lengths are long enough that you could route the wires along your existing harness and cover them with that black corrugated plastic stuff used on newer cars?
