monte70car
Got new tires for the car but they won't seat on the wheel. We got it lubed up with soapy water try and push against the wheel to get it to seat but no go. Tried the strap trick around the center of the tire and drop the tire still no luck. Used starter fluid and a match no go. Any one else have any tricks? We did try the bicycle inter tube started going then the inter tube blew out. Tires are mickey Thompson sportsman s/r 26x10 going on a 15x8 rim.

Mike 57
Take them to a tire shop before you ruin the tires, or worse hurt yourself.
footballubet
Just in case you didn't listen.... Tire shop! They have the proper equipment and that doesn't include starting fluid.
monte70car
I'm already stopping at a local garage to see what the price is to seat the tires. Most of the time we have no issues doing the tires just these don't want to play fair.
7tonemonte
Mount and balance shouldn't be too much rob. You spent the money on the tires and wheels so its a minor expense at this point compared to what you spent already
black07ss
The starting fluid thing sounds rough on the eyebrows
bigtankjones
I don't have Eyebrow's. There just really Gray. Anyways. Did you get them mounted yet,Rob?
monte70car
It only cost $30 to seat the beads on the tires and to balance them. Got home and paint the letters gold to break up the black of the tire. Here they are mounted on the car then a rear view of the tire

ssmonte70
Love that look on the tires, nice job and with such a steady hand. Did you tape part of the tire off or just use the pen and a steady hand? Thanks--Troy
monte70car
The tire wasn't taped off just hit the raised letters lightly and slowly until it was cover.

LostnFound
Great job! We did that years ago in my karting days on the slicks we ran.
Malyc
Too bad I didn't see this til now... The one time my shop had a really hard time getting one to seat, we had to use air tool oil around the bead. Still took about 90 psi to seat, and I wouldn't recommend taking them that high without a cage. I like the gold lettering though, nice work! monte70car
All four Mickey Thompson are now on the car and it looks good. next item is front trim rings and been playing with the ideal of the 67-68 center caps.
bigtankjones
I like the Center cap's Scott Stevens has on his Monte. If I put my Rallys back on. I'm going with the Disc Brake Center caps.
