Welcome! This is a great group here. 🙂

  4. I'm still looking into the side marker ones, so don't order anything just yet. The tail light numbers are good though. It says this number below is for the rear side markers, but I'm trying to confirm it with the assembly manual: https://www.amkproducts.com/search-result/?ser=g-4228 EDIT: For the front markers, your assembly manual will be page 12C-3, items 2 & 3. Those numbers look good for the G-4201 kit. I don't believe them in regards to the rear, I think just using the same type screws as the front markers will work fine (B-12152) So, I'd either order 2 of the G-4201 ($3.50 each), or get some bulk kits, with all the fasteners, and some left over. J-nuts (8 of them - $4): https://www.amkproducts.com/bulk-fasteners-products/?Product_ID=12245 Screws (12 of them - $4): https://www.amkproducts.com/search-result/?ser=B-12152 Realistically though, NAPA would have J-nuts that work, plus some #8 screws. Would be a lot cheaper once you figure in shipping.
  5. Thank you Joe! I went through my AMK kit and didn't see those items. It seems that I must have lost one item and ended up needing a few others that were not included in my kit.
  6. AMK will have all that stuff. Side Marker: https://www.amkproducts.com/search-result/?ser=G-4201 Tail lamp bezels (includes screws and nylon nuts : https://www.amkproducts.com/search-result/?ser=G-4204
  7. Hey guys I'm not having any luck finding the J nuts and screws for the side markers. Also I can't seem to locate the mounting hardware for the tail lamp lenses and bezels. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the club Kevin. I see yours has the gauge package and tach. Is it by chance an SS? There is plenty of help here for any questions or problems you may have.

Welcome Kevin. A couple days ago I was cruising around Facebook and seen your pictures. It didn’t take you long to tear in to it. Looks like a pretty nice car to rebuild or restore. You have started the process of getting involved with, in my opinion, the best Monte group. A great bunch of Monte heads here. You have questions, we are all here to help. Good luck on your project and hope to see you on the site often.

New guy here. Picked up this 1970 a few months ago and just now starting to dig into it. Making rusty parts look new again, story of my life. Getting this project going, starting at the front and working my way back. I Ordered the American Autowire complete harness kit to avoid any headaches with this chopped up original . Lets see how it goes. Lost of rust to fix in the near future.
  11. He's a decent guy too we talked to him one year, nice guy. I've always enjoyed talking to Candy Clark too.
  12. Look at the vac line going to the transmission modulator. You may have pulled it off when redoing the lines.
  13. lol. I know. But I try to get a dig in every once in a while.
  14. Sure is a pretty car. To bad I’ll never see it in person. 😆😆😆
  15. I’ll look tomorrow after work. I do believe they can be welded.
  16. You looking for GM, or doesn't matter at this point, Jim? Sucks that your other one broke.
  17. That's right, Driver's side exhaust manifold needed. For 1972 Monte Carlo. BBC

  19. Help ! I've broken my Driver's side exhaust manifold for my BBC and need another one to replace it. I had them all set to go in and then it dropped from the hanger I had on it prior to painting it. Great,Just Great, fell on the last manifold bolt hole at the rear of manifold and broke off. I doubt there's a way to fix it and be able to use it. Does anyone have an "extra" ? All I can find online are passenger side. What really gets me is they were "curing" for the last 9 days with said hangers and no problems. 1 step forward ,2 steps back. On the good side, new driveshaft is ready to be installed.
  20. What's up guys. I have a 70 small block monte that has been running great for years, but had nasty trans pan and oil pan leaks. I finally got around to changing both pan gaskets. While under there I shimmed the starter because it was screeching, re routed the trans cooler lines that someone before me did a terrible job of, and ran a new 4 gauge starter wire to battery post. Never touched ignition or even took the air cleaner off. After topping of the new oils, the car was hard to start and now will not idle. I can pump the gas and keep it running and the response is pretty good, but as soon as I let off the pedal she dies instantly. What the heck? So now I have removed the air cleaner and if I keep it running long enough for me to reach the carb, I can get it to idle up if I cover the carb with my hand. This leads me think i have a vacuum leak all of a sudden, but I can't find it. What do you guys think?
  21. FINALY 🤣 Maiden post hibernation cruise today, beautiful day low 70's. I was pulling back into the garage when I remember "someone" said I only post left side photos of the "imaginary" Monte so I backed up and took a right side photo 🤣
  22. Dennis it's impossible to repay everyone for the banana stuff, you really earned that yourself!!!! lol And we Love you for it!!!
  23. lol. I was kidding around but the original thought was banana abuse repayment.
  24. So banana-man, what did I ever do to you? rob
  25. After they started requiring shoulder harnesses they switched to the cups on hardtop cars
  26. I do agree with the statement but in reality the speed limit back then was 55 mph( correct me if I’m wrong Rob, you were in your late thirties early forties 😆😆). A lot of people cruised the interstates at 55 even if they had an SS car because of the lower gear ratios, my 70 SS has 2:56 gears.
  27. Hey Rob... It was a explanation I got from an old Chevy guy years ago when we got talking about my T-Type not being available with a manual transmission. Basically we got into warranty/safety issues that the factory wouldn't install, and the conversation went from there. He did say he worked at a G.M. dealership in the '70's..... And seeing as I was much younger then, I was just trying to respect my "elder".
