  1. Hello. Im Rick, 25, auto mechanic as a profession. I bought a 1970 monte carlo about 3 and a half years ago, been slowly working on modifying/rebuilding the car. When i bought my monte it was non running, purchased from a local private owner. Since purchasing it ive rebuilt the engine, been through the front and rear suspension and the steering. Added headers and a pypes exhaust system. Hope to learn alot from everyone here!

  2. Finally hang my 10+ year member gift up. We were going to put in in a frame but this looks better. Life keeps taking changes, sold one monte and still have one just not with me at my townhouse.

  3. If you haven't seen Michael's car in person, it is worth the trip to his house to see it. rob

  4. So what happens when the car sits, any car with an automatic transmission, is the fluid in the torque converter drains back into the transmission. Fluid naturally seeks to be level. That's why when some cars sit, they tend to leak. The little hole is to relieve air pressure when the yoke goes in and out of the transmission tailshaft over bumps. Only transmission tailshaft a that have the o-ring inside should have this hole. I recommend replacing the o-ring with a new pliable one or replacing the yoke with one without a hole. Just remember if you do, to remove the o-ring completely.

  5. I performed a more difficult task today, installing the two screws that hold the blower speed switch on the inside of the dashboard. I gotta get a mouse who’s good with a ratchet wrench. But I did discover laying a long mirror on the windshield to see into the dashboard is the next best thing to removing the windshield. I have these plastic cups all over my shop and car to hold screws and stuff. One tumbled down the left cowl duct. That mouse sure would be helpful! 🐭

  6. Hey All, Hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy. Its been a bit since an update. Time is getting closer to being able to get the cars out and need to get this done. So made some progress did a lot of waiting on parts being shipped, delays , damaged trim ( because its the thinnest stuff on the planet) sand blasting and painting a few remaining parts. I am using the original front bumper I have for now, not perfect but really good shape. i just wanted a new one to match the new back bumper, but it can wait for now. Got the new inner wheel wells , new wheel well trim , new rocker molding and new lower molding installed, car buffed and polished (needs a little more to get rid of some swirl marks) good enough so it could see the light of day this mothers day and stretch her legs a bit. Still have more things to work on as it will never be done but the majority is done to make it respectable. Still a bit of detailing and cleaning but for now was good enough to get it out and enjoy a nice day. Well all... here she is , after a few progress pics you can see how she looks. Thank you all for looking , following and helping along the way , it's not over and I will post more stuff as I do things but overall the big part is completed. I cant wait to see you all in Carlisle hopefully, that is what I was shooting for and she is good enough to go now. It's not perfect but for what we had to work with work space , painting environment etc.. I am very happy with results. As always thank you all for looking. Sand blasted and painted fender braces Sandblasted and painted the hood latch ...whoops forgot the pictures of the painted hood latch Some before, after and during pictures of the bumper brackets from crusty to looking like brand new the new inner wheel well installed after some wrestling with it .. And the final pics after hours of massaging, filing, trimming, installing ,uninstalling all while trying not to scratch the paint.Finding clips that work best etc.,,, and trying to make them look halfway respectable.. But here she is . Here is the before and after for for those that have missed it Before After

  7. I love whatJared has done to his car. Awesome build. I have a 3 70 SS 454 cars. One is a red slick top car with Corvette Rally’s. Back in the day that was the way to go and it still is in my opinion. I have a very nice 72 with 7 inch Rally’s and white pinstripe tires. It looks like it just rolled off the transporter. A local guy used to buy and sell Monte Carlos all through the 70s and the 80s and he would buy 8 inch Corvette Wheels at the dealership for $50 a piece and swap on the original bands and centers. It made the cars sell for a lot more money. These cars have increased in value, however what Jared has done could be reversed if necessary. I love these cars in Black, Red, andWhite. Unfortunately most are Earth tones like Green, Gold, and Brown. I owned a 70 402 4 speed that was originally Gold but had been color changed to Black and had a GMPP 454 in it along with Corvette Rally’s. That car got more attention than a naked woman! I can appreciate a bone stock car or a slightly modified car. I wish I had the drive thatJared has to work on my other 2 project SS 454 cars.

  8. 8 inch Rally wheels were not an option. They were Corvette issue only.
