  1. Hi all, Greg from New Zealand. First Monte Carlo I've owned. Look forward to being part of the group. Cheers

  2. I haven't even gotten to the passenger side due to the very limited space I have in my garage. I have totally cleaned and painted the drivers side front brake hub and drum drum, backing plate, mechanical brake lever, new drag link, new steering arm, new tie rod and tie rod ends and the spindle assembly. Now, looking at the front axle I am thinking I need to clean that and the radius rod assembly and paint the them both as best as I can without removing it. Yep, snowball effect but I won't go any farther than that or so I think. rob

  4. One could say that BUT one could also say it was a good thing I did and clipped the garage frame with the hub cap or I would have never discovered how badly worn that king pin was. rob

  5. $2.20 NZD per liter is equivalent to $1.60 USD per liter or $6.05 USD per US gallon!! And that's for 91 octane ... something to think about the next time I fill up my Monte with 92 octane for $2.59 a gallon.

  8. $2.20 for 91 octane & $2.40 for 95 octane. I've only changed a few things so far. Fitted new air filter, fuel pump, plugs/leads (think you guys call plug wires) HEI, Alloy intake, removed 2 barrel and fitted 4 barrel 600. 18"front & 20" rear alloys. Recovered front seats from material to vinyl. Got backs to do also. Next on list is headers and twin exhaust, currently has the two manifolds into one pipe.

  16. Don't let it be a deal killer, the exhaust note will still be great with a cross over. I am old school and like to be different. You probably could not tell the difference unless the two cars were side by side and then like I mentioned it's a preference thing. The only way I could explain the exhaust note would be to use a Harley...they come with a dual exhaust from the factory with a cross over (now a days even have a catalytic converter incorporated in it). Remove the head pipes and replace it with a true dual and you will have a sound more of a drum beat...hope that makes sense.
