  1. Three first gens all 72’s. Ole Red, Midnight Bronze Custom and a beautifully customized two tone silver. I sent the Bronze owner a membership application today he said he used to belong but it might have been the NMCOA club he could not remember. He lives in Gas City IN. This is a one owner car BBC 402, no AC, turbo 400 and a low optioned car The two tone owner I have been working on him for several years recruiting but no luck yet. He said he also used to belong to this club Steve Griffith is his name from Pendleton IN.

  2. The 71 is a little easier. The thin black stripe up the sides and across the top should be satin black. The grille area should be painted argent silver with leaving the front edge chrome. Then the vertical bars in the grille painted satin black.

  3. I had Advanced Custom Chrome in Erie, PA. re-chrome 2 grills for me. Ask for Chris, the owner. 814-899-1233 First I had to repair any pits that just couldn't be done at the chrome shop, used 'All Metal' filler and the paint stick/sand paper as shown to fill the low spots. I then masked off all 60 of the holes to paint the openings argent silver from the back side (used a manila file folder to make the rectangle fillers). Sprayed Satin Clear over the silver too, I think. After that, I masked off the area with the thin lines/around signal lights and painted that with Axalta Trim Black. Yeah, it sucked. I still have the second grill to paint. Turns out that was in much better shape than the first grill (shown), but I acquired it after the first one was already getting done. I just wanted a spare. Eventually, I'll paint that one up & keep the first as the spare.

  5. Hello, I hope everyone is keeping well. I don't get on here much but I see many of you on Facebook. Last November my friend and I started a further restoration on my 71SS. She's getting close to being finished so I thought I'd drop in here and post some pics etc. This car was my late Uncle's daily driver from 1971 to about 1978 including in the salty winter months here in Ontario Canada. She had a body on restoration in the early to mid 80's but I decided to do a further body off restoration on it.

  6. I want to get my grill re-chromed/refinished. As you know, the grilles on the 72 have black insets and black trim, which complicates the chroming process. I've reached out to a few chrome platers but haven't gotten any response. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions for companies that are capable of doing this job? Thanks!

  10. I painted the fins on my grill black. I taped the front up and painted from the back, that's just the way I wanted it.

  12. Here is a link to a thread that discusses a lot about removing the gauge pod without taking the entire dash out. I am a bit busy to post step by step instructions at this time as I have family stuff to deal with but if you still need a hand shoot me a pm and i will walk you though the process when the dust finally settles.

  13. Ya I know I’m pushing it but I’m going to bow to the master. They could never be visible like that. Unless you talking about the complete frame assembled in the basement

  14. Yes it is. But in their defense they needed a logo to match their cars.

  16. Both front and rear!! At least the front guards are in the correct location. The rear guards are simply disgusting! Looks like a '72 Custom masquerading as an SS headed to a demolition derby! 😝 Lose those hideous guards and it's a nice car ...

  17. He was killed yesterday in a car accident. Be in your thoughts and prayers for his family. I had met him when visiting them several years ago. Nice guy and had recently become a deputy.
