Hi all, new member here. I have just bought an all-original '72 which apparently has been sitting in a basement since 1982. One owner from new. The body looks excellent, the interior needs some love (and some steering wheel cork tape or a new wheel!). Even has the original am/fm radio. Matching numbers VIN and doorplate, although the seller says he would have to remove the alternator to get at the engine number. What is a reliable website to check the VIN number and car history out? thanks.1 point

That’s the most stand-up thing anyone’s ever said to me, Paul! I sincerely appreciate your genuine concern 🤣😂1 point

Yes that's true they are never done even when there done. My theory is do what I have to in the summer and do what I want to get done over the winter months.1 point

Well you could always come to Syracuse in July for the Syracuse nationals, hopefully have a mini meet there next year. Usually the long Island crew come up for that too.1 point

Thank you everybody for the warm welcome, I may already know some of yooz but alas I wouldn't remember who. I do have a couple more pics that Jim, the current owner, sent me. The basic history of the car is that it was bought by Jim some months after he bought mine, he said it was owned by 'their Mother' who only drove it to church and in 50 years has accumulated just 83 thousand+ miles, the A/C was changed out for 134, duel exhausts were put on, 2 barrel carb was switched out for a 4 barrel, the oil pump has been changed so has the water pump, valve seals were replaced, the AM radio has been switched for a retro radio with new stereo speakers in dash, the original skirts have been preserved plus the original wheels with white line tyre and 'flying saucer' hub caps (of which I am bringing home with me) Jim even has the original front and rear floor mats, the window sticker too. Though what brought a tear to my eye is when I was told that Jim had replaced the rear shelf speaker with one of my original Monte shelf speakers, so I shall be getting a piece of my original Monte back *choke*. I asked him if the clock works and true to Monte tradition, it doesn't <g>. Oh it has the original vinyl roof and the trunk mat looks like new apparently. I've been told the speedo doesn't work after it was taken in because it was whining, it did for a while then ceased after repair, me thinks they may have lubed the inner cable wrong. Anyway.... Thanks again for the warm fuzzy1 point

Good Evening to you all. I would like to announce that I am going to try to revive the club Knight Newsletter. The newsletter had ceased to exist back in 2019 because we were having trouble getting members to submit articles. Obtaining articles for the newsletter is one of the jobs of the club Vice President. When I say that I don't mean it was up to the Vice President to find and write these articles but solicit submissions from our members. In the past it has been very hard to get members to give us articles. It seemed that articles only came from a very select few members. In the past two years we have added a number of new members to our ranks and it is our hope that we will be able to talk our new AND old members into contributing new fodder for the newsletter. Many are reluctant to contribute because they say "I am not a good writer" You don't have to worry about that. We will take your stories and do the editing prior to putting them into the newsletter. What we will be looking for will be as follows: Featured Monte: The Featured Monte will always be on the front page of the newsletter along with the story written by the owner Member. To qualify for a spot as the Featured Monte the owner MUST be a dues paying member of the club, now just a member here on the club website boards. If you are interested in seeing your Monte Carlo as the Featured Monte please let me know and I will let you know what we need from you. Project Stories: If you have done a project on your Monte such as a suspension upgrade, rear disk brakes, stereo radio upgrade (especially if it is an upgrade which is hidden, special paint job or any special project you have performed. Take pictures of your project and documentation of the project and do a writeup. Remembrance Stories: If you have any interesting or funny or cliff hanger stories you have had with your current Monte or a past Monte these always make good stories. Maybe it is a story from when you had your Monte and were dating, or went to a Prom or used it in your wedding day or someone else's wedding day or maybe your car was used in the shooting of a movie or TV show. Pictures are a plus for all stories. Mini-Meet or Car Show: Stories and pictures of mini-meets you held or attended or car shows are always interesting. These are just some of the idea's we want to throw out to you. Once our election is completed our new Vice President will be filtering all submissions. I have already started to work on the next newsletter. I would have done this sooner but my old laptop just was not hefty enough to support the software I needed but I recently got a more powerful laptop and have loaded the needed software. I look forward to seeing your submissions. if you have any questions please feel free to ask them in this thread because others may also the questions. rob1 point

Hey everyone! My name is Kade. I recently took full ownership of a 72 Monte Carlo that has been in the family since my Grandpa rolled it off the dealership lot. I learned how to drive with this car many years ago and fell in love with this car when I was just a kid and my grandpa decided it was time to officially give me the keys. Over the years I’ve been taking care of it and adding upgraded parts to it. Nothing huge but enough to keep her alive and rolling for years to come. I’m excited to be a part of a group who’s member have so much knowledge about these cars!1 point

Hi everyone, just purchased this Monte in Missouri. One owner 94K miles. Sounds great after a friend and I installed new fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs and wires...and some fresh 91 octane gas and lead additive. Planning to put new tires on this week but looking for a set of rallys...know of any?? Next is vinyl top, new carpet, and front seat upholstery.1 point

Greetings everyone! I recently purchased a 1972 Monte Carlo and I’m excited and a bit overwhelmed. I’m an IT guy for the Oklahoma Army National Guard who has always wanted to restore a classic car like this but I have minimal mechanic experience. I’m not sure where to begin. The car does have some rust on the wheel wells the floor and the roof. The previous owner put in 2 floor boards but it doesn’t look like he did it the way.. It is leaking transmission fluid pretty bad. I live in the OKC area so if you know anybody that could give me some assistance and teach me (I would pay of course) I would greatly appreciate it! I am excited for this journey and to be a part of this community. One day hopefully my car will be in good enough shape so I could drive it when I want to and take it to the car shows. If you all could give me some advice on where to start that would be great! It does run and drive, I just drove it around the neighborhood.1 point

Howdy! Hope all are well i bought my 70 Monte 6 yrs ago. It ran & drove fine. One owner. sat outside for a few years & had a leak under rear window with boxes of car magazines in trunk. So inside rusted out pretty bad. anyway, I’ve been hard at work over the years & we are just out of paint & beginning reassembly. this is my first ever restoration so I learned as a went. Definitely would do things in a different order if I did it over. I look forward to getting to know y’all & your Monte’s1 point
