  2. It's been a little while since I've posted anything, but wanted to share the progress I've made on the ole girl. Here are before/after pics. I put new tires and wheels, dual exhaust, and complete front and rear suspension. I think she's coming along nicely!

  3. Maybe I don’t need to move it. I got 4° advance at cold idle, and 8° warm idle. I don’t know rpm but when I revved a little it went past 12°. Manual says: Centrifugal advance 18°@4200rpm 8° ignition timing at idle BTDC engine sounds good after I fixed a vacuum leak

  4. May just be stuck from not moving in a long time, give it a slight tap on vacuum advance with a rubber hammer see if it moves. Be very careful though as to not damage anything.

  5. That is the correct bolt to adjust distributor. May have to tap to get it to move. There is a gasket under it, gets sticky from that and also if oil has not been changed in a long while.Did you drain oil,new filter,1 quart transmission fluid, 4 quarts 30 weight, run engine to temperature for20 minutes ( no driving). Then Drain that oil, change filter, add your good oil, (I run Valvoline VR1 ) high zinc content. That trans fluid will clean any sludge in engine. No more the 20 minutes at temperature. I let it drain overnight. Should be good to go.

  7. Congrat's on your award!! Like I said before, one nice Monte you got there. Did Farmtruck go over and check it out? Very nice venue there. We were in town last weekend for my son's graduation from OTC. Now out looking for a job. Might going to Indianapolis, working on restoring old Indy Cars. Hope to see you in Carlisle this June.

  8. It looks to be the distributer hold down bolt. The clamp sits on the shaft when you tighten it. The distributor would turn??

  13. Contratulations Greg, now we need to get you to bring that beautiful Monte to the GM Nationals in Carlisle. We now have 60 members registered with me to attend. You will have a great time. You will see a heck of a lot more First Gen Monte's there than you saw at the Cleveland Show. rob

  17. Dennis, That is partially true. For me, for as long back as I can remember my parents were GM owners with the oldest one I can remember it was a Pontiac with a light up indian head hood ornament. After that Pontiac it was always Chevrolet's. As many of you allready know my first car I bought back in the spring of 1966, when I was 15 was a Blue Oval and 56 years later it is still kicking. It is my 1929 Model A Tudor Sedan but back then I think they were built better. My interest in the Model A Ford Blue Oval started when I was 9 years old and we were driving from Jacksonville to Tampa, Florida to visit my grandparents and we saw this long line of Model A's going in the opposite direction. When I asked my dad what they were he told me they were all Model A Fords and at that time I said out loud "I'm going to own one of those one day" and with a doubting tone in my dad's voice he said "I'm sure you will." I immediately started saving my money. Back then I earned my money by cutting many of our neighbors yards, pulling weeds, cutting hedges and anything else I could do for the neighbors to earn money. Once I thought I had enough money I saw that Model A Tudor Sedan sitting in a car port and started to bug the guy to sell it to me. When I finally told me dad about it and he asked me what year and body style it was and when I told him it is a 29 Tudor Sedan he smiled and said, "my first car was a 1929 Ford Tudor Sedan" so at that time I saw it as a sign that I needed to buy that car and my dream came true. Other than my 29 Blue Oval 29 blue oval, I have never owned anything except a GM vehicle. rob

  18. Here's the official logo for the event. Although not exact, the Medford Cruise organizers really came through for me when I requested that their logo include a 1971 Monte like one owned by FGMCC member Terry Stevens' who passed away last fall. I'm certain there will be several of us at the FGMCC Western Meet buying these t-shirts.

  19. Went there yesterday, there was a 72 Monte all the way on the other side from those two. Very crowded, traffic line to even get into the IX Center was insane. Still worth it and we had a good time.
