  2. Not sure if anyone else has had dealings with Early Bird Restoration in Barrie, Ont. But I just picked up a few pieces... His prices are pretty good, (buys in bulk from Parts Place.) and it saves on all the duty and cross border fees. Looks like he has the ability to get just about anything.

  3. After doing the around the house chores , went to a small car cruise in Maysvill Ky a few miles away, at a pub bar kinda restaurant called the barrel house.. saw a 72 Monte I had never seen before in this area.. I know the DJ and he said moreand more first generation Montes are showing up at his cruises.. I did not get to meet the car owner but here are a few photos of the 72.. it looks like a decent ride but the dash is needing a lot of attention...

  14. Starting the journey of rebuilding my Monte Carlo. Of course, we need the pic of parts stacked up in the house. At least the dog approves. He is very curious.

  16. I don’t wish that upon anyone. Drywall sucks. I did a monster room upstairs, made a secondary suite for Karen’s parents if they move in here( their old). HVAC, electrical I did all of it myself. EXCEPT, I hired a guy to finish the drywall. He was in and out in 3 days with very little mess. That would have been 6 months of misery for me. Well worth the money. Looks like you’re doing some good work. Keep it up. 👍

  18. Another Saturday project, started the sheet rock install on a small room upstairs over the kitchen that leads into over the garage, yesterday morning while it was cool in there.. making a small bedroom.. carry that upstairs was no easy task for an old man with a bad back.. but somehow I managed.. this is the worst part of this job...

  19. Hi Sammy, I have debated that thought in my little brain as well, but probably won’t mount them on the car before Carlisle.. it’s registered as modified anyway and I rally like the American racer black chrome wheels... after that I will begin turning the 71 a little less modified ., to street probably.. don’t think I can go original without all the parts . Thanks for asking... see ya soon 👋🏻. Ron...

  22. Sucks though because they are screwed down but the heads are rusted enough that I can’t drive them back out Were they Phillips head head, square drive or Torx? My deck boards are installed with square drivew stainless steel screws and com out rather easily. This is one reason I spent the extra Money back in 1999 so I could replace boards if necessary but more than likely won't have because of Menards Trex style decking that was about 2/3rds of the Trerx cost back in the days of yore

  23. That does NOT look like any fun at all to me. I hate doing house type maintenance like that. My condolences

  24. A guy who burns wood for heat picked up all the cut wood today. The ugly stump went into the neighbors ditch to help control erosion. At least that’s my story. Done. So today I got started on the deck. I decided not to replace all the boards just the ones that are rotten. Gonna rain do I quit for the day. I got a few ripped out but plenty more. Sucks though because they are screwed down but the heads are rusted enough that I can’t drive them back out. So I’m having to break out the boards and pull the screws with a vise grip. Fun stuff. 225 bucks for a 5 gallon pail of deck paint/ stain. Omg 😳

  29. Bit of a slow day. Did manage to get the Aeromotive EFI fuel tank installed, & the fuel lines I bent months ago with an Aeromotive 10 micron filter put in place. Next will be the brake lines on the other side of the car before putting the subframe & the subframe connectors back in place.

  30. Ed, I hope you never forget to remove that draw bar when no trailer is being pulled because it looks like it really sticks out a good way. That thing could really be a shin buster. rob

  31. So I picked this up last night. 2000 # HFT. I like it cuz it folds up but will it hold a big block? Hmmm. 50 bucks. It’s worth the gamble. Reviews off the chevelle and camaro were good. 185 new.

  33. Lol! I'm running out of steam right now 😁. Have to work 4 dayshifts starting tomorrow (which means 3 probably, feeling sick already 😜), then vacation for 2 weeks. Hopefully I can get pretty far along with this one, then time to start preparing for Carlisle. I did start bolting a few parts on the car last night, so that's a start finally.

  36. I have an RPM air gap, 1 inch spacer, Holley 950hp and stock air cleaner (Camaro style on my big block and NO hood clearance issues. I had a 350 with performer (no rpm made yet, lol) 4" spacer, Holley 600 and 3" air filter with dropped base under the hood of my 1st Monte Carlo. Back in 86'. Lol

  37. Well it's been awhile since I updated. Lots of overtime, so progress has been slow. I had to recut and reposition the wheel well, buts it's welded and seams are sealed. Got the new quarter tacked in, so I hope everyone agrees it looks good lol. I've also got about 99% of my engine parts, so that is next on the list.

  45. Got my second First Gen last year. Having a bunch of work done to her. Wanting to put some personal custom touches to her. I was wondering if anyone knows what script was used for the Monte Carlo emblem? Haven’t been able to find it anywhere. Any help is appreciated.
