  4. Aftermarket vacuum modulators have an adjustment screw to help dial in shifting. Governor weights, gears, tire diameter all have an affect on the trans shifting. Have you changed anything lately?

  5. First day off work for the summer, you would think I would rest and relax, but No, stupid me gets in over my head and now I’m so sore I can hardly walk! Too old for this ! My brain still thinks my body can go up and down a ladder 100 times with a chain saw!. No, I don’t need any bananas , thank you.

  7. Joe: The car looks a lot different from when I saw it a few weeks back. You've made a lot of progress and looks beautiful. Sometimes it may look like your not moving forward and it takes another eye to see the progress. Great work and I'll echo Willie's comment about wishing I had the ability to do what you do. Heck I'll take a quarter of your ability and be happy.

  10. If I am correct there is an adjustment screw in the center of the vacuum module that has an effect on shifting rpms. I trial and erred this on mine and got it set properly... mine was shifting too early... problem is, you can only get to the screw with the vac line off the module.. just a thought... 🤔 I only turned the screw 1/4 turn a try...

  14. The part of the cowl under the rubber at both ends that you see in both pictures is where the side cowl panel and the top meet. The factory puts seam sealer to prevent moisture from getting in-between the metal. It was applied and then painted black at the same time as the firewall.

  15. This morning I was taking Patsy for her eye doctor appointment. On the way there I told her I wanted to find the time to inspect the brakes on the Monte prior to heading to Carlisle because I installed the brakes back in 2000. Her appointment took less time than we thought so after I took her ho.e I packed the tools and floor jack into my Denali and headed to my Monte storage garage. There was still about 1/3 pad left but all 4 were showing signs of cracks. I called Advance Auto Parts and they told me 3 day order, I called CarQuest and they told me they would order them and have them in Thursday or Friday. I called O'Reilly and they also said they would order them and if my order was in by 1:00PM they would have them by 2:00 PM. Job done and all looks and feels good. rob

  18. Ok Rob, after thinking again about cleaning your car, I printed all the emails and notes on this site you sent everyone about the upcoming show and as it turns out ,it’s over a half inch thick . So, maybe I could take a couple swipes at cleaning your car after all. You certainly probably haven’t had the time since doing so much coordinating for this meet. Seriously tho... I recognize and thank you for so much effort.. amazing...

  19. I have to say I only use distilled water in my cooling system, even during a flush, because there are no contaminents to possibly get lodged in the small passages of the radiator fins and eventually cause issues. I used to do the garden hose trick all the time however without any problems but afterwards a thorough drain, reflush with distilled water, and fill with the correct mix is my hard and fast rule.

  20. Got the Wilwood front brakes all assembled, and shimmed up properly. Steering gear & linkage loosely assembled, power brake booster, master cylinder, adjustable prop valve, brake lines, and the engine set back in the frame...for now. I seemed to recall that driver side header wouldn't go in place with the steering box installed....well, that's still the case 😁. It'll probably be easier at this point to just lift the motor back out a bit & slip that header back in. First, I'll have to drill them and put the oxygen sensor bung in the collectors. Sounds like a job for tomorrow at this point.

  21. This is a bittersweet sight. But this is what I do for a living, restoring cars, so my name is on this car forever no matter who owns it, knowing I built a car from the ground up off the frame in my backyard and it's going to Mecum, this is a big deal. I thought about it myself but as well as it done at the local auction, after all the expenses and fees I would have to have gotten significantly more. This guy will too, he's in it for 57,750 before any fees at Mecum plus selling fees. https://www.mecum.com/lots/SC0522-502394/1970-chevrolet-monte-carlo-ss/

  22. The G7015 tire that came on your car is a 225 - 70 R 15 in a new radial size. I put BF Goodrich red line radials on my Monte . They also make with white walls .It's the best of both worlds looks like a bias ply side wall but is a radial tire. Just the price hurts
