I may need to retire earlier than planned so I can make all of the events. I would have to live in a van down by the river! LOL4 points

UPDATE: I replaced the upper and lower control arms, ball joints, bushings and had another alignment done. This time the caster was set to +5.5ยฐ. It's like driving a different car; so much better than it was before. Thanks again for all of the feedback. Hopefully others will find this information useful!3 points

Nice! A useful body mod that doesn't spoil the classic lines of the First Gen Monte.2 points

Edit: Guys and Gals, to be clear, this is not an official First Generation Monte Carlo Club-sponsored event. This is a group of like-minded individuals attending an already existing, pay-per-entry event and you will be required to sign a waiver to enter the track facility. Update: 1/21/2023, 47 officially registered, 25 more say they are going either in Facebook events or face to face. Just under 27 weeks to go, might see 70+, who knows? Please register to ensure we have allocated space to park as a group. Building on our successful Inaugural First-Gen Monte Carlo Takeover at Summit Motorsports Parkโs 21st Annual Blue Suede Cruise, the dates have been announced for next year - July 28-30, 2023. Bill Bader has already agreed to provide us the same location near the grand stands for next year. This is a prime location in regards to proximity for fun runs and watching the races from the stands. We fielded 18 First-Gen Monte Carlos at our inaugural event in 2022, letโs see if we can reach 40+ cars and really blow the announcerโs mind. Summit Motorsports Park is at 1300 State Route 18, Norwalk, Ohio. For more information, visit summitmotorsportspark.com or call 419-668-5555. Photos from the 2022 event: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10224388515074039&type=3 I created a public invite for the event next summer... Hope to see you guys there! https://www.facebook.com/groups/835462189844838/permalink/5762037523853922/ Click here to Register1 point

Good Evening, This Mini-Meet will be from Thursday June 22nd to Sunday June 25th. You can now register with Carlisle Events (Many of us already registered while we were at our Eastern Meet there this past June.) You can register on-line by going to www.carlisleevents.com and looking up the GM Nationals show or you can call them directly to register at 717-243-7855. It is now OK to start making your room reservations for my 2023 FGMCC Mini-Meet at the Carlisle Events GM Nationals. I want to let you all know that we will be limited to 40 rooms for this mini-meet and I suspect these rooms sill go very fast and it does not appear we will be able to get any additional rooms once these rooms are claimed. Due to the limited number of rooms, we are going to have to restrict these rooms to dues paying members and to retain your room reservation your dues will need to be current at the time of the meet. Members will also be restricted to one room per member. Any additional family members will need to book rooms at the normal hotel rates. I suspect these rooms will go fast. I would urge any members who have a room by themselves may want to try to find a member you feel you know well and share and split the cost of a room. You must call the hotel directly and identify yourself as a member of the First Generation Monte Carlo Club to obtain the club rate. The phone number of the hotel is 717-243-2080. When you make your reservation, please have the rate structure available because when I called to reserve my room, they did not have the rate structure in front of them and were trying to charge me the Friday or Saturday night for each night. I am attaching the room rate chart for you. You will notice the hotel is going back to Pre-Covid19 room rates so you will need to start saving your money now for your hotel room. I need to get tracking information from everyone. Please copy and paste this information in an email to me. PLEASE NOTE, THIS MINI-MEET WILL RUN FROM THURSDAY JUNE 22ND, NOT WEDNESDAY JUNE 21. The hotel gave us special rates on Wednesday for anyone arriving early. I will not be arriving until a little bit before noon on Thursday. We will be having our usual Pizza Party on Thursday evening and weather permitting we will try to get in some Go-Cart racing following our Pizza Party. Member Last Name: Member First Name: Club Website Screen Name: Name of others in your party (please include ages of kids: Total number in your Party: City: State: Arrival Date: Departure Date: Year of your Monte: Color: Vinyl Top Yes/No: Vinyl Top Color: Class Registration: Hotel: Room Type Qn/Qn, King Email Address: Regarding classing your car for this show: For this show we will be enforcing these guidelines. Any alteration from how these cars left the factory will be a deviation. In other words, Different spark plug wires, chrome valve covers, aftermarket intake manifold, aftermarket air cleaner, headers, exposed electronic ignition, aftermarket radio etc would all be individual alterations. In other words, each deviation from the way the car left the factory is counted as 1 change. We do not count safety alterations such as a passenger side mirror or 3-point seat belts as alterations. We also do not count Radial Tires as an alteration. If you have any questions on alterations, please feel free to send me a Private Message here on the boards OR an email at rob29ford@aol.com Classes: STOCK = 0 TO 3 ALTERATIONS STREET = 4 TO 6 ALTERATIONS MODIFIED = 7 OR MORE ALTERATIONS You can now also register your car for the show by going to www.carlisleevents.com GROUP ROOM RATES Room Type Wednesday 6/21/2023 Thursday 6/22/2023 Friday 6/23/2023 Saturday 6/24/2023 QN/QN $149.00 $149.00 $179.OO $179.OO KING $149.00 $149.00 $179.OO $179.OO KING SUITE $159.00 $159.00 $189.OO $189.OO QN/QN SUITE $159.00 $159.00 $189.OO $189.OO rob1 point

Just found that they recently announced the dates for the 2023 Syracuse Nationals, one of the biggest shows in the country. As most may recall, we met up with C.K, Willie, & a few other members recently and it was a complete blast! Absolutely planning to attend next year and will get registered as soon as they open the window for that. C.K. & Rob are working on the possibility of securing a contract for better room rates, which will be a plus if that happens, but not a deal breaker if it doesn't - We're going regardless. I'll dig up the hotel info later, so people can start reserving rooms early. The only caveat with getting a club room rate (if they can secure one), would be the need to be a dues paying FGMCC member, some of which is for insurance purposes. It's only $25 for a year, the best spent money and bargain you'll encounter anywhere in these strange times. Start looking at these dates and plan your vacation requests for next year now! https://lite987.com/syracuse-nationals-2023-dates/ https://www.facebook.com/SyracuseNationals/1 point

I like it! Compliments the turn signals. At first when I saw the title I dreaded looking because I expected something massive bolted to your trunk lid...1 point

Paul, this is what i found: The TCS (Transmission Controlled Spark) relay was introduced during the 1970 model year. This normally closed relay opened the TCS Solenoid to provide full vacuum to the distributor when the engine was cold.1 point

Thanks gents. The TCS solenoid because mine is broken, and it just seems tidier and simpler to bypass it. I donโt see any advantage in keeping it except for a restoration. It seems like an afterthought. I figured some of the other emissions stuff might be the same. sorry yeah mines got air con and is auto, 350.1 point

Just like any other car show, there will be a lot of different body styles and shapes you would never desire or seek and some you would desire if you could, were lucky enough to obtain, and more than likely some very nice cars there too. What you wouldn't need to worry about from some of the spectators would be belt buckles, key chains and wallet chains scratching your paint. rob1 point

First, I'll see if he's even interested, then go up in the attic, sweat my butt off, unpack it & then take pics. No sense in getting off the couch if not warranted ๐. I shampooed it at the time & let it dry in the sun, as my initial plan was to re-use it. At that point though, everything else in the car was new, figured for a couple hundred bucks more, it was a no brainer.1 point

Just keep in mind that the factory alignment specs are for "factory original" tires.... using a wide tire will have some variances.1 point
