  2. I see the reflection of the power lines in the hood. I don’t think anything more needs to be said 🤣😂

  5. The longest hood in Chevy history and a bird hit most of it.

  6. Man, if you were looking for the 4x4 kit , I just got rid of one for the price of shipping. Definitely worth the money. I have the UMI performance kit in mine. Upper ,Lower and large sway bar. This tank is like a go cart around corners, and very little sway. Plus it still runs down the road with a smooth ride to me. I also have tubular upper and lower front control arms. Next upgrade, coil overs all around.

  7. Not stock. I have the aluminum Edelbrock heads, intake, cam, Carter AFB, .060 flat top pistons, etc, etc..... Vacuum lines was my first thought as well but they all seem okay so today I am moving on to the plugs and fuel filter as those were my thoughts as well.

  9. I added one years ago and did NOT box the frame, just used short bolts. 15+ years later I had the frame boxed but there was no damage using only the inside part of the arm vs a long bolt through both sides and added metal.

  10. Worth it, yes! If your lower control arms are not boxed either get a complete upper and lower aftermarket kit or factory F41 lower boxed arms. You will be happy you did. What a difference!

  11. Others that have added a sway bar say they make a big difference, I did purchase one and the boxed lower control arms I just haven't gotten around to putting it on yet so I'd say do it, of course you'll have to box your rear lower control arms if they are not boxed. Sounds like the snowball has started lol.

  13. Just throwing something else out, possible fouled plugs. Don't think you have headers, and don't know how it would work on exhaust manifolds, but I got one of this laser temp guns from HF. I had a fouled plug, rough running, the temp gun on the header tubes showed me exactly where the problem was.

  14. I agree with Dennis. Check the fuel filter.

  15. As stated above but possibly the fuel filter. You may be sucking up moisture from the bottom of the tank.

  16. Personally, I'd look for another carb... Depending on if you want to go stock. I like the Edelbrock carbs, but they don't mix with factory pieces like Holley does. And an adapter can throw the linkage geometry out of wack.

  17. Yes, Steve, I ordered and installed the 2 1/2" Summit DIY header-back kit for the first gen Monte and have been mostly pleased with it. I do find the turbo mufflers to be a bit loud but you may love it if that's your thing. It is a more mellow/throaty sound, not sharp or crackly (which I can't stand). Unfortunately, I did not have a lift available to me then (I do now) so I did it on my back on the garage floor, which I do not recommend BTW. Installation would have been a breeze if I could have connected to full-length, straight back headers but the only ceramic coated headers I could find to fit my big block 4-speed (the Z-bar interferes with #7 tube) were the Patriot shortys with 45 degree collectors. I probably spent twice as much time fitting/fabricating the adapters as the rest of the installation. All of the sections have ample length to adjust the fit as you like. The hangers are robust and sufficient for a sturdy installation. I'll included a few pics and one video (so you can hear the turbo mufflers) below but let me know if you have any specific questions. Summit's DIY kits are real price performers if you are not looking for anything exotic. Good luck. PS. The photos seem to always post in reverse order on this site so starting at the bottom will make more sense. Also, you'll probably first need to download the video to play it. IMG_5558.MOV

  19. Things are lookin’ quite nice there, Nath! Build Sheet AND bill of sale… NICE!! The build sheet for my ‘71 is in the safe deposit box, so I don’t have it accessible to compare it to yours. However, boxes 55 and 56 are peculiar 🤔…

  20. You’re welcome, bud. And what’s funny is I didn’t manage to get them out together to a show or cruise-in this past summer. I tried to alternate cars, but found myself in the ‘71 more often as the ‘70 was in the trim shop for a new interior for a while. Was this/close once, but the better half got stuck at work late and it was too last minute to recruit a friend to drive one of them to the show. For now, this is pretty much the extent of their simultaneous appearance…

  21. Welcome Nath! Well look at it this way for comparison, a 1971 402 Chevelle optioned the same way would most likely start in the mid 30's in ok shape. In 1971 there were roughly 8633 402 Monte Carlos built. How many surviving today? How many first generation Monte Carlos have you seen where you live? If you want the same options as a Chevelle SS, better ride, class, style and uniqueness then you found it!
