  1. https://photos.app.goo.gl/tss4o7a8J7FiqBSc9 This is what we were able to watch Saturday in North Myrtle Beach. The air force pilots were seemingly having a good time buzzing the balloon, there was 6 of them , they would come in 2 at a time. You could tell by the speed alone, this was definitely military. Very quick U-turns and a rather impressive vapor trail.

  2. I’m thinking that the metal went for Chevelle parts just like a lot is the Monte SS cars.

  3. I would not lose any sleep over that Ryan... Think of it not rebar or angle iron.... I would prefer to imagine some of it as some of that old Monte Metal is going to making new fenders, hoods, floor boards, trunk pans and other replacement panels for our Monte's. Just my 2 cents. rob

  4. Just a note, I had not commented on this when I first saw it because I was looking on it and opened the file while on my phone. I can tell you, to try to look at that file on a phone is impossible. Tonight was the first time I was able to look at the file on my laptop. While it is more readable on my laptop it is not ideal. Would you happen to have excel on your computer. If yes, excel may be a much better way to develop a data file for researching something. Excel allows you to manipulate the data and search it in different ways by using filters. Also, a couple of them have a double ** but the file does not indicate what these indicate. Again, the fact you did not get many replies may be mostly because only 37 of our dues paying members indicate they have n SS454. You may have noticed another post in this forum regarding the tracking of documented 72 Custom's. Doug is doing this tracking using a searchable database. Lyle, please keep in mind that is has taken a number of years collecting and editing this information so like I said before, you may need to just be patient. rob

  5. Willie, If it makes you feel any better, this June in Carlisle we can go someplace and you can sit next to me and it will make you feel younger and nobody will call you grandpa. I won't tell them that you're my dad. rob

  6. I stopped in at a Golden Coral last year and the greeter said oh we have a senior discount....I started to get upset till I remembered the word "discount" 🤣 The usual I get is "the 80's called and they want their hairstyle back" At least some of us older gang are still out there doing it.

  7. I have two SS cars that are not on you list.

  8. I put the proper connectors on the motor and wire also, so it looks factory. Much better than a blue scotch lock.

  9. Lyle, have you given any thought to becoming a Dues paying member of the club. I am sure over time we could help you get your SS documentation database more manageable. rob

  10. I have a 12 bolt posi in my 70 Monte and have left the rear drum brakes. I had to put a rotary vane vacuum pump because of a more radical camshaft. Car stops fine.

  11. So, here's something I came up with real quick to put Lyle's sheet into an Excel format. Before I go too far, is it something anyone wants, additions, corrections, etc.? Also, if you want to continue with this sheet/format Lyle, that's great. If not, I can cross over the info as time permits. I'm certainly not trying to take this away from you, that's for sure! 🙂. The far right column makes note that it's from the original .txt file. Also... Thank You Lyle for becoming a Dues- Paying member! We really appreciate your support! SS454 Registry.xlsx

  12. Lyle, it is possible you were a dues paying member if you had a club logo window sticker. Somehow your information may have fallen off the database. We will welcome you back as a dues paying member. Let me know what information you need to rejoin. rob

  16. Lyle, I don't think it isn't that people are not interested, sometimes these things take time. I would think it would be mostly people with true SS454's may find it interesting. We float around a little over 400 dues paying members here and out of those, from what I can tell, 37 of those have 454's. I can't say that all 37 of those 454's are true SS's. Since we have more people on the boards, like you, that are NOT dues paying members of the club than we have members that are registered dues paying members. There is no way to know how many of those Non-Dues-Paying members have true SS454's I can tell you that at our Eastern Meets we sometimes will have as many as 10 or more possible SS454's. Don't get discouraged in your search for data. In my opinion, thinking 3/5's of the SS454's produced would still be around would be an exaggeration. That would be like thinking more than half of all First Gen Monte's ever produced would still be out there and I just don't think that would be possible. You say you were a member here years ago but I have checked the file I have of past members and while we have had a dues paying member with the last name of Groves, their first name was not Lyle and they did not live in Missouri. rob

  18. I left my brake system alone after the engine swap, but its not my DD nor is it hardly in traffic. Some things you can cheap out on, I wouldn't consider brakes being one of them, just my .02

  19. The original one that Joe manipulated downloaded as a txt file, the latest was an xls format. Even tho I'm on a Mac I also have office so either worked for me. As for comments, as Ive said I think it can be useful information. I would suggest making it a "locked" document if posted on the site so not just anybody can modify it.

  23. Well I like the positive angle you guys put on it!! I hadn’t thought of it that way. Been watching a lot of junkyard videos on YouTube. And I know a tremendous amount of my company’s scrap comes from crushed cars. Just had me thinking sad thoughts lol.

Don't remember when the 71 402 4 speed, Kevin's 71 SS and the 71 COVID Monte were built. Hopefully will chime in and fill in the blanks. Lol

  30. Not too long ago, the subject was recently brought up about the FGMCC Cookbook that was sold on the Club website years ago. It was put together by our former club secretary, Capri Blasco. After some discussions with Rob, and permission from Capri to reproduce it in digital form, it was decided to make this available to dues-paying members at no cost, as a thank you for continued support of the FGMCC. Willie mentioned that he had a copy of it, and mailed it to me about a month ago, to check it out. It was pretty cold out here today, so it was a good opportunity to stay in the house and finally scan & convert the book into a digital format. It will be available to those in good standing on the "Resources" menu HERE, and will also be posted in the 'Members Only' section. If you're on the fence about joining the club, this should be a tipping point!!! Well worth the few dollars it costs to join, for this benefit alone. Included below is the table of contents for the 51 page booklet with 79 different recipes, which includes Appetizers, Side Dishes, Salads, Breads, Main Dishes, and Deserts. All of these recipes were sent to Capri from Club members, to include in the book.

  31. I got it to work correctly on the bench. If the video loads correctly it shows the correct colors at the end. It took a second to figure out the float. The light does go on and off as the wipers are turned on and off. IMG_4750.MOV

  32. Well, its already a frankenstein car, 402 out of a 69 pickup, rebuilt and souped up. the front bench is long gone. The guy was converting over to bucket seats and console. the column shifter is still in it though. I think I'm gonna keep on making it a hot Rod, but im going to put a bench back in it and just go with all black interior. eventually will do body work and probably a matte black pain job or something like that. Found out last night after servicing the engine, and adjusting the valves that it has a flat cam. #4 exhaust wont lift so it's backfiring through the carb, so I will start with a new cam and lifters and just see where it takes me.
