  2. One of my coworkers went down to Run to the Sun for the weekend. He sent me this picture of a 71 SS 454. I’m almost certain this is the one that sold in Greensboro NC a few weeks ago. The red square body belongs to my coworker.

  6. Definitely a good looking C/10 !! I recall seeing both vehicles, When I see an SS with it's hood down , it makes me always question why . Therefore I don't usually spend much time looking especially when I still have 5 miles of walking left to do. LoL 🤣

  7. Looking for control arms now. Lol. IF I ever finish this pos I’ll have a fortune in it. I should have crushed it when I had the chance. But now it’s turned into a mission. I will win, I will win, I will win. ( go ahead and keep telling yourself that dummy).

  8. Thanks Scott, Not driving it until Bowtie support gives me the green light. They are pretty particular about their setup procedures.

  9. Great Score there Dennis. Regarding the control arm Oval/Round question. If I am not mistaken the arms are interchangeable. Hope you properly stalked the seller to get him to join, if not maybe you will have to attend a stalking seminar at the Carlisle Mini-Meet rob

  12. It did, the initial tv install went fine. It’s the fluctuating pressure reading in reverse, 1, and 2 that I’m wondering about. The pressure fluctuates by 50lbs with and without the tv cable hooked up. Taking the initial readings, with and without the tv cable connected, are in their setup instructions.

  14. Very interesting careers you guys. Since Ukraine, Ireland are discussing our neutrality at the moment. Personally I think it makes sense to contribute to European defence if we depend on them when the bad guys come knocking.

  15. I was a PMEL tech in the USAF, with my final assignment at Aviano AB, Italy. I did a number of TDY's to bases in Europe, including Ramstein, Bitburg, Torrejon-Spain, and couple other spots in Italy & Sardinia. I'm sure you probably had to deal with PMEL a bunch, but if not, we were the guys that repaired, calibrated, and certified all the test equipment used to keep the planes in the air. A lot of hard core electronic repairs to the component level, and certifications to the National Bureau of Standards (now the NIST). I ended up running the K-6 lab at Aviano, which dealt with anything physical/dimensional (pressure, flow, temperature, vacuum, length, torque, etc). Also had to calibrate the TTU-205 Altimeter Test sets, the most temperamental piece of crap out there, lol. But, like you said, if our stuff wasn't right, lives were at stake. We had bins of those diodes, resistors and transistors in stock that you mentioned, separated by part number and tolerances, of course.. I agree, more of today's youth should join the military, maybe the world wouldn't be so screwed up right now. When in Italy, the Italian Air Base barracks were adjacent to ours, so we would talk to those guys thru the fence. Military service was mandatory for a year, for everyone. If you went to college, fine, but they still had to do their service. Don't know if it's like that now, but it was interesting. 'Jet noise...the sound of Freedom'

  16. The tv cable is of utmost importance. It must be set and used otherwise the transmission will cook itself from lack of proper pressures. The 700r4 and 200r4 rely on the tv cable unlike a th350 or the electric "kick down" on a th400.

  17. I appreciate that Ed. I was stationed in Europe in the 80's, lot of guys had trouble getting parts for their American cars over there as well.

  23. Round. I already have a set located. Another road-trip. I do have a set of ovals here but the one I need is bent ( off the crashed 71 I bought). It’s a smooth bend and it can be straitened.

  24. My brother was an air force plane maintenance guy. Stationed at Lakenheath or something like that and one of the planes that he was the repair crew on is in Dayton OH at the Museum. He also was based in the States at Myrtle Beach SC

  30. Larry, This is a very doable and satisfying upgrade project. I did it two years ago on my '70 4-speed and made a photo journal of the project that you can access Here . Be sure to click on each individual photo in sequence and scroll up enough to read the captions at the bottom of the photo because that's were a lot of the information resides. Everything you need to convert your current idiot light instrument cluster into a factory equivalent gauge cluster is available on eBay from Sonnie24. Unfortunately, the instructions that come with his otherwise excellent kit were sadly lacking. Working with our own resident expert, Darren Bull, we put together a very comprehensive set of instructions, including wiring diagrams. I can send that to you via email as a Word file if you'd like. BTW, this is the perfect opportunity to convert your dash lights to LEDs so that's also included in the photo journal above. My '70 SS already had the factory gauge dash so I just converted it to LEDs this week (still putting it back together - ugh). The most difficult part of this project, at least for me, was working under the driver's side of the dash with the seat in place. You are a much younger man so it may not be a challenge for you, but if I were to do that upgrade again I would temporarily remove the driver's seat to get better access to the fuse panel which required some detailed re-wiring. Let me know if I can help. You will love the results. Good luck. Here's a Before and After shot of my project.
