  1. I gotta tell everyone here that I love this family, yes I said family not club because that's what it is. I joined many years ago and over the years I have made some very good friends. I've been through some very personal and physical issues especially lately and I've had nothing but support from this family. If there's anyone on the fence about joining and paying the minimal fee to join its well worth every penny. I can always come here no matter how far I am down in the dumps I am and always enjoy myself. I love the friendships and the banter between members. Thank each and every one of you for helping me through my hard times, I love you all! I could go on for hours about all the great members on here but I won't, thank you all!

  2. So far it is just my old bumper from my 70 Monte. I had to make some brackets to get it mounted on the wall and added some lighting. I plan to add taillight housings and have the taillights work too. I will need to come up with something for the backup lenses. Some frosted clear plastic will do I just need to find the right container I can cut up.

  3. Today marks our 53 wedding anniversary. On a cold snowy Jan 16th day , I said yes after she asked me to marry her :). Just kidding… we had 20$ between us but by the grace of God , clawed our way thru . She’s been a blessing to me all these years , almost as much as the 71 Monte :).. kidding again. But that is the reason I’m partial to the year 71 Monte. The year we were married..

  5. It's Thanksgiving 2023 and our family is all here for dinner. My oldest Grandson has his learners permit so I let him drive my 71 Monte Carlo. We had a beautiful day here in Michigan so I went to start the Monte and the battery went dead. I attached jumper cables to it and it started right up. I see that it is charging so I backed it out of the garage and let Evan take over. He drove me all over the area for almost a hour. We had a great time. Evan said the steering is a bit loose and the brakes require more pressure to stop the car than he is used to. This was such a great thing for us remembering back to when we drove him to the Woodward Dream Cruise every summer. Picture from 2009 when he was very young and now:

  6. It's been a little while since I've posted anything, but wanted to share the progress I've made on the ole girl. Here are before/after pics. I put new tires and wheels, dual exhaust, and complete front and rear suspension. I think she's coming along nicely!

  7. 20 years ago I was working on organizing a 70-72 Monte Carlo meet in Nevada. FGMCC founder/president Kevin Wiles liked what he saw and proposed that we make it an official club meet and the Western Meet was born. I had no idea that I would still be organizing these 20 years later. That first Western Meet had 6 members attend from three states and one province and was a fantastic experience that I still look back with fond memories. This year the 19th annual Western Meet will have 30 members from long distance all over the Western US and Canada. These don’t happen without members dedicated to travelling long distances attending these events and I want to thank those who have attended over the 20 year history.

  8. CLUB AWARDS PRESENTED: Joe Tedesco - Recognized Member Award: Joe has been a big help to us in finding ways to make the club website better. The number of things Joe has improved are too many to list but Joe has made numerous improvements and has been a big help to me in updating members status's on the boards. Also Joe's technical knowledge has been one of the first members to respond to members questions Tom Ferrante: Recognized Member Award: When a member posts on the boards and is looking for assistance and/or information Tom is the other person who is one of the first to respond. Tom has assisted many members through difficult problems and sometimes is able to help members with parts he has "In Stock" Congratulations to Joe and Tom on receiving their Recognized Member Awards. 1970 TO 1972 MONTE CARLO - STOCK CLASS: 1st Place: Willie Conforti 2nd Place: Gary Vanatter 3rd Place: Rob Peters 1970 TO 1972 MONTE CARLO - STREET CLASS: 1st Place: Dennis Tretter 2nd Place: Daniel Donlin 3rd Place: Ed Walker 1970 TO 1972 MONTE CARLO - MODIFIED CLASS: 1st Place: Joe Tedesco 2nd Place: Frank O'Connell 3rd Place: John Rodi 1995 TO 2007 MONTE CARLO - STOCK CLASS: 1st Place: Bob Wiemels 1978 TO 1988 MONTE CARLO - STOCK CLASS: 1st Place: Joe Sullivan MEMBER SPECIALITY AWARDS: Rob Peters 1970 Monte Carlo. Given by Bill Miller Jr. Co-owner of the Carlisle fairgrounds I thought one other of our members had received a Celebrity Judge Award but it is not listed on their website and I can't remember who it may have been. All three of our officers, Bob Wiemels, CK Collins and Rob Peters, were invited to be Celebrity Judges and were invited to a luncheon on the show field on Saturday. THE FIRST GENERATION MONTE CARLO CLUB RECEIVED TWO OTHER CARLISLE EVENTS AWARDS: CLUB CHALLENGE PRESENTED BY HEMMINGS: 2nd Place. This award is presented to the club based upon cars registered in the club name COOLEST CLUB HANGOUT: This award is presented by Carlisle Events to the club with the best decorated club canopy and the inner actions of their members among themselves and with the spectators and other car owners We had a several other really neat things happen while we were there: The first happened on Friday morning. Lou Santiago, who has hosted numerous television shows asked if he could interview me about my car and the club for his current show. It was a very short interview but it was really an honor and a chance to talk about the club. I have no idea when the show will be aired Also on Saturday afternoon two gentlemen from HEMMINGS CLASSIC CARS approached me and asked if I would be interested in having my car featured in that publication. I told them I would be honored but it is not a restored car and they said that would not matter. They have taken my information but I don't know for sure if or when I may hear from them, I will keep you all posted. On Saturday evening we were honored to have Lou Santiago join us at our group dinner. Bottom line is the First Generation Monte Carlo Club had a very strong showing at the Carlisle Events GM Nationals. Thank you all for attending. rob

  10. Went to a car cruise late this afternoon about 40 minutes from our house. The car cruise was kind of dead so I cut out early and remembered an old member of the Model A Restorers Club lives not far away. This man is 92 years old and he and his wife were very active in the Model A Restorers Club but his wife passed away about 5 years ago. That and with his knees going bad I knew he could not drive his Model A's anymore and that he had to sell them all off. Since I had purchased my Monte I kind of drifted away from the MARC (Model A Restorers Club) but decided to rejoin it after not being a member for 10 to 15 years. I knew from talking to a member that Bill was having a hard time of it and rarely had visitors at his house so I decided to drop by and see Bill. When Bill came to the door he recognized my face and I said "Do you remember Me" and he said yes. I asked if he felt up to a visit and he smiled and said "Sure, I love to sit on the porch and if you will help me out onto the porch we can sit out there. We started talking and it was like we had not missed a beat. You see I was a 45 year member of the MARC before I drifted away so I knew many members over the years. It was sad to see Bill in his advanced years and sad to hear how much he misses Joan (Bill said to me, "you know they say it gets easier as the years pass but it really doesn't, I miss Mom as much today as the day she passed") Mom is what he called his wife Joan. It was sad to hear how he had to sell all of his beloved Model A's and antique Caddy. As sad as all of this was it was good to get to sit with Bill for an hour or so and just shoot the breeze and talk about the good times we had on Model A outings with the club, all of the picnics, one and two or three driving tours with the club. It was a good feeling to see how much Bill appreciated someone stopping by to just talk with him. Bill told me about selling all of his cars but also mentioned he has quite a large number of parts that he just doesn't know what he is going to do with them. Bill told me that some people had kind of taken advantage of him on buying some of his parts. I told him that he needs to find someone that he trusts to come and go through his parts and make some lists of what he wants to sell and then help him price and sell some of those parts. he told me he has fenders, doors a totally rebuilt steering column and many small parts. Unfortunately I have not been active in the club until recently so I am not really sure what Bill's parts are worth so I doubt I could be of much help. I told Bill that I needed to leave so I could get the car back before dark (I had the Monte Carlo with me and Bill loved it). I helped Bill back into his house and asked if he would mind if I stop back on another day when we would have more time to talk and he told me "Come any time". As I was closing the door, I said to him, "Bill I know you recognize my face but it has been so many years since we have seen each other do your remember my name?" Bill seemed a little embarrassed and admitted he has been trying to remember my name since I had arrived. I told him I was sorry and should have told him when I arrived who I was. I told him, "Wait till you get to be my age, sometimes I can't even remember my own name" Yep, even though the car cruise was a bust I really had a good evening. rob

  12. How’s that going in this cold. Average voltage drop for all models is 30 percent. All over the side of the road, parked. Monster lines at the charging stations with a four hour time limit on charging. Imma fire up an SS and go whip some donuts at the charging station. Honk Honk.

  13. I just finished my car after a 6 1/2 yr. build. I've owned the car since 1998. I made first restoration attempt in 1998/99. Moved it around in pieces until I started over in the fall 2016. I drove it to the Syracuse Nationals from Queensbury, NY. Its the furthest trip I've taken it and couldn't be happier with how everything went. Although my plans were to have come earlier and stay until Sunday, the weather held out to still make for a great trip. I came across a group of beautiful 70 - 72 Montes and saw the club banner. It didn't take long for me to join. I parked with the club on Saturday and although I walked around most of the day, I had a great time talking Montes with a bunch of the other Monte owners / enthusiast. I'm humbled by all the incredible compliments, especially coming from other Monte owners. I'm already working on plans for the 2024 Eastern Meet and hopefully can get out to Lebanon Valley for another meet up. Looking forward to seeing more incredible Montes and meeting more member in the future. Now I need a trailer! Seth

  14. Had my 8 yr old grandson helping this past weekend and he learned to pack wheel bearings! He can't be here for everthing and I can't always wait for him to be here, but I think the time spent on a project will help keep him intrested and learning. They are smarter at that age than they get credit for. Anyway, we did get the front end back together! Couldn't have got it all done without him!

  15. So I believe I’ve mentioned that I was able to track down the dude in Wisconsin that owned my ‘70 from sometime in the late 90’s til early 2010’s. This guy was the one who freshened her up; he found the body (with original interior still in it) in a shipping container after sitting for several years after his cousin bought it to restore (but didn’t). The motor and trans were located in a basement at another property. All his receipts from the mechanical and body work and paint made their way from the guy he sold her to, to the guy I purchased her from. Amazingly this guy still had the same home phone number as listed on the receipts and called me back after I left him a voice mail. This was all last year some time, but we still text from time to time. He recently found this picture from when he got her out of body and paint. I definitely like the ride height better with the original springs and shocks. Not so sure I like the fuzzy dice though 😂🤣

  16. When I first purchased my Monte Carlo back in 2000 I had also gotten information on the original and second owner before me. Through the years I have owned this Monte I have tried to get, from the previous two owners, some memories from them on this car. I am officially the third owner of the car because the dealer I bought it from never titled it. I had information on the second owner and sent a letter to their address that went unanswered. I knew the name and address of the original owner but they had passed away. I have searched for a connection of the first owner and his wife and I knew the ornginal owner had passed away and after awhile his wife, who rarely drove the car gave it or sold it to a family friend named Frank Tobias, it was Mr. Tobias that had not responded back to my request for information. I knew the original owner was named Mussina and that their grand son had played professional baseball. I was able to search and found their grandson, Mike Mussina, had pitched for the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees and was selected to All Star teams and later was inducted into the Baseball Hall Of Fame. Back in the days when I first started to search for Mike Mussina to see if he had any memories of the car I kept hitting brick walls and could not find any way of getting in contact with him. Back in October Patsy and I visited some friends in the Phoenix area and while we were there we met up with an old Air Force friend of mine and his wife and the conversation turned to my Monte. This old Air Force Friend grew up in the Lock Haven/Williamsport Pennsylvania area and told me he knew of the Mussina family and that this grandson of the original owner still lived in the Williamsport, Pa area and may still be coaching sports at the high school. I looked up this high school and sent an email to the Head Coach in the athletic department and nothing reallly came of it.........................................................................................................................................UNTIL TODAY!!!! Today I got a text from Mr. Mike Mussina and we conversed over text messages for a little while. Here is what I learned so far from Mike but we only chatted through text for a short time because he had to go to a meeting: "Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Sounds like it's possible that you own my grandparents car. Would Love to see a picture of it" He asked me if I could send him some pictures of it and I did but told him when they owned it the car did not have rally wheels but did have the color keyed hub caps. His reply "That looks like what I remember. My gram passed away in the mid 1990's and my grandfather in the early 1970's. I do remember the car but only drove it once." "That's Nuts" I told him they had taken very good care of the car and I was lucky to have been able to purchase such a low mileage car. and he said that "She barely drove it the last 15 years she was alive." He went on to say..."Is it your only Monte Carlo? Obviously you're a car guy." He said of his grandfather...."He was a minister, died in his early 60's and Gram lived to her mid 80's and never remarried." Mike told me "Ironically, I'm a classic car guy myself. I have 20+ cars and trucks from a wide range of years. I don't show them too much, I mostly drive them." He told me "What's funny is when Coach Keefer told me about this guy with a Monte Carlo that was my grandparents, first thought was that he knows I have old cars and wants to sell the Monte to me." I told Mike, No, it is not for sale and he texed me.... "I figured out pretty quickly that it wasn't for sale. I always wondered what happened to it. It's great the owner appreciates it" He added, "I have Corvettes, Camaro's Pickup's etc and I'll send you some pictures later. At that point he said he need to run because he has a meeting to go to. Since he has GM's I have invited him to come to the get into one of his cars and drive down to Carlisle with it in June and attend the GM Nationals and he could hang out with us some if he wished. I am sure Mike and I will chat again in the future. Today was a feel good day rob

  17. Everyone who knows me, knows I will always help my friends whenever possible so this morning a friend of mine called & asked me if I could loan her $500 to help her pay her rent. You know me, I am always willing to help my friends & family out... I told her..."give me a minute let me check my money situation & I'll call u right back." Before I could check my account her sister calls & says, "Don’t give her any money because she’s lying.” Her Sister proceeds to tell me that she wants to use that $500 to get her boyfriend out of jail because she wants to be under the same roof with him for her birthday!!! So I thought about it for a minute, & decided to go ahead & give her the $500 cause we all need help at times so I called her back & said, "I got you." A couple hours later, I got a call from the county jail, & it was her. I say hello & she starts screaming & asking, “Why did you give me counterfeit money?!" I replied: " so you & your boyfriend would be under the same roof for your birthday!!!" You’re welcome rob

  23. Hello everyone, my name is Kevin Collins and I joined the club right around when it was formed. As you know life sometimes gets in the way and some things just get forgotten about. Unfortunately I didn’t stay up with the club, but I am happy that it is thriving ! I have a 1972 Monte Carlo that I have owned since 1985. I am currently giving her a much needed rehab and will hopefully have her back out this year.

  25. Was out walking yesterday with my wife Mona, came across a little show and shine at the senior's residence just up the road from our house. About a dozen cars. The first one I noticed is a '72 green Monte Carlo. Went around looking at the other cars, saving the Monte until last. Beautiful car, small block, bucket seats, console. The owner came up and we started to chat. I was ready to put on my salesmen hat and promote the great club we have. Turns out he's already a member, first one I've met in person. Funny thing we both live here in Oshawa, both own green cars and are named Rob. I know, no pictures, didn't happen. So here she is.

  27. Great show only two Monte’s of any kind. A black 70, the owner is on the Facebook page and told him he needs to get on this site and become a member. I need to put my stalking papers back in my trunk again. We removed everything from the trunk late year and have only been to 2 or 3 shows since and with the car not running well along with wet weekends I think we have it straightened out. I need to work on m photo posting to get them in the desired configuration, every time I try to turn the iPad they keep turning sideways again

  28. It has been too long since my two sisters and I have been together for a picture. Pat and I are in Florida. One sister still lives in the Jacksonville, FL area, my younger sister lives near Raleigh and my wife, Patsy and I live in Pittsburgh, Pa. This picture was yesterday evening and it seems we are all in the same place at the same time only for weddings and funerals, this time it is for a wedding. rob

  29. I was up in the attic putting away some of our Christmas decorations and decided to go through my old Air Force footlocker. 36. Hi Folks, I live in southern Oregon (State of Jefferson). Just bought my 71' MC about 2 years ago. I always liked the looks of the 1st gens, I needed a daily driver, and the car I had sat too close to the ground for me nowadays. I figured one in great shape would cost the same or less than a new car, and I don't like any of the new cars. So why not drive something I like, and can work on myself? I found one online up in Yakima, WA. After checking it out the best I could at a distance, I flew up to Yakima taking chance that it'd work out. It did and drove it the 450 miles home. I bought it off the original owner who bought new when she graduated college in 1971. 110k miles and 5k on the rebuilt motor, still has the factory interior in pristine condition. Everything is still stock with the exception of the steering wheel. 350 2bbl, they made sure to say more than once "This is not a hot rod", and vetted me pretty well. My 67' Cougar XR-7 fits that bill so no problem. The lady had tears in her eyes handing over the keys. When I heard there was an MC club and that there was a national meet within 40 miles of home, I joined.

  42. This was an opportunity I couldn't pass up! Pretty much all Original it does have some upgrades already like front disc brakes. Besides a 57 belair growing up this was always my next favorite until I discovered Flat Top 59 Impalas. I actually was leaning towards a Flat Top 59 Cadillac once i found one but they are priced very similar to this one in similar condition. I never thought I'd sell a Monte, buy a 59 caddie and have plenty $ left over. Ghostbusters sure didn't hurt these cars at all either. Already ordered a SC version of the ECTO 1 plate 😆
