  1. See the attached 2 pictures that show the 9 pin connector wires and the Photofact sheet which identifies the wires. The 5 row of pins are for a 4 speaker system (2 front and 2 rear) 2 ground wires (black) for the front and rear speakers along with the individual 2 front - LF & RF and 2 rear - LR & RR speaker wires. The 4 row pins are 2 ground wires (black) 12V is yellow & Lamp is grey.
  2. I know you stated "I'm mostly concerned with paint and rust. Numbers matching would be a bonus." but I few things I noticed are the driver's side exhaust manifold appears to be 1975 and up version which might rule out numbers matching engine. 1970 Monte would also have dual horns mounted to the hood latch support - I see the wire hanging but no horns? There would also normally be the front harness wires mounted to the driver's side fender well but they could be tucked up under the fender extension? You will also need all A/C hoses and the compressor could be questionable. Definitely need more photos/info in my opinion.
  3. Congratulations! Nice looking car and a great Christmas present for yourself! Good luck with it!
  4. Looks to be a nice car. Late build date July 1970 and is a Flint car with the rare broadcast sheet. Only the second Flint built broadcast sheet I have seen so far since the actual build sheets are no where to be found for flint cars.
  5. Carl, The hole measures 5/16 inch in the License Light housing. See picture. I saw your other post and I used the top rear light bulb for the tail light fiber wires. I will add the trunk location hole in another picture if you need it. Jim
  6. Welcome to the club! Groton CT home of General Dynamics Electric Boat submarine base! There are a few members that live in CT and one big CT car show on the east side would be the YYCC Brooklyn CT Car Show held in September. Montes always look great in Black!
  7. I will try to add a picture of the solenoid location and the "little fuse" is actually a relay device. There are also rubber and steel vacuum hoses.
  8. Hi Greg, I had sent you a PM the other day in regards to these wires. I believe the black and blue wires are for the TCS solenoid which connect to the silver "little fuse" on the wire gutter. There is also the green wire with a jumper (2 terminal connector) to the temperature sensor in the passenger head. Another wire should come off the little fuse and go down to the transmission switch on the driver's side. The TCS solenoid would mount on the intake near the alternator bracket. This solenoid controls vacuum advance and most solenoids are discarded for better performance.
  9. One other thing to note is, I believe that 1970 slats were flat with no grain as seen in the second picture posted by Dennis above. Another 1970 item only.
  10. The numbers before the CRN would be the date of the block assembly 4 digits, 2 for month and 2 for day which would follow a leading "T" for Tonawanda factory ie. T0313CRN. You can check other engine components for dates if they are GM factory items - like the the intake manifold, distributor and heads if you pull the valve covers. If the stamped dates are before your VIN date month and week, chances are it might be correct. The block itself should be stamped on the top back near the bell housing with 3963512 for 1970 454 and also have a date code stamped nearby for when it was cast that can then be checked against the body tag month and week. "Chevrolet by the Numbers 1970 - 75" book by Alan Colvin is excellent reference for correct part numbers and date codes. Jim
  11. Sorry fellow Monte fans, didn't mean to sound so cold-hearted - just reminded me of the ending scene in the first "Terminator" movie with the hydraulic crusher! Jim
  12. Yep - she put a up a good fight but in the end - TERMINATED !
  13. Congratulations! Nice car and great history. Reminds me of my first 1970 Monte - triple black with bench seat and 350 - had it from 1974 - 1986 - wonder if that one's still around. Jim
  14. Very glad to hear Rob is doing better! Prayers coming your way for a speedy recovery or slow or whatever it takes. Get well soon! Jim
  15. On a 1970 TCS solenoid - the port where the wires attach is for carb vacuum source, on the other side of the solenoid - the port angled upwards goes to the distributor and the other port is for vacuum let off, which on a 1970 attaches to the top rear of the carb port.HTH.
  16. Doug, check out this link to 69-72 Delco Radio identification. Delco Radio ID's I have the Sam's Photofact for my 1970 AM/FM 8 track stereo radio and it list part number DS 515 as the output transistors, which may also have been the same ones used in 1969 & 1970 stereo radios. Sam's Photofacts maybe the only source to match the product number with the model number, if you can find the correct one for either year. Sam's usually shows the model number and the product number on their Photofact sheets. You can try your local library for the Sam's sheets or keep an eye out on ebay for them. Jim. Happy Holidays to everyone!
  17. 1970 Chevelle, El Camino or Monte Carlo should be #01AFM with a 1 or 2 for the revision number. Full size Chevrolet is #01BFM with a 1 or 2 for the revision number. I am not sure if they fully interchangeable between models - but I believe the stem width measurement is the same between A and B radio models but the center opening in the dash maybe different in size. Bruce - your radio is from a 1973 Buick midsize model car.
  18. Well James it's time to get excited again, because your award is in the mail and on it's way! You should get it on Wednesday and then you can get excited some more! Oh yeah - you Won! Congrats again! Jim.
  19. Congratulations to everyone - we had a very nice showing of first gen Montes! And a very "special Grand National" - Congrats Willie!
  20. Well I was doing fine driving down from CT until I reached Harrisburg PA at 1:30 pm Thursday and then the rain started. Carlisle got hit pretty good with a bad storm about the same time. As neared the fairgrounds there were alot of tree limbs down in the area. Once it cleared up, I had to do a quick wash and detail on my car before entering building T for the display. There is a 1971 Mulsanne Blue Monte Carlo SS454 with a white vinyl top also on display from the GM collection. See you guys soon.
  21. Rob, pm sent. See you guys there! thanks, Jim
  22. Congratulations to everyone - sounds like it was a great time and great to see some recognition for the first gens!
  23. I am very sorry to hear this and Robyn and his family are in my thoughts and prayers. His comments were always interesting and entertaining and will truly be missed. We are bonded by Monte Carlos, but the people behind them are so much more important. RIP
  24. I was thinking with 2010 being the 40th anniversary of the Monte Carlo that the GM Nationals at Carlisle, PA would be a good venue. They have had the Impala and Camaro anniversaries there and they maybe receptive to having the Monte Carlo anniversary next year. The dates are June 25-27, 2010 and below is a link. GM Nationals 2010
  25. The above number is correct if your car was originally a California car, if not then the correct quadrajet number would be 7040200.
