  1. Thanks for the heads up, I'll definitely contact them before buying.
  2. I think I'm going to make the ones I have work for now but save up for the ARH headers down the road.
  3. I definitely am looking for quality service. Right now the car is with my regular Allstate policy and with the extremely poor service I'm getting right now with them taking care of a claim on my wife's 2015 Camaro, I sure as hell don't want to deal with them taking care of any claim on the Monte.
  4. Currently I have my Monte, as well as all my vehicles, insured with Allstate under a standard policy. I've been dragging my feet about switching to a more appropriate policy but after dealing with them on my wife's daily I really don't want them to have anything to do with the Monte or any of my other vehicles either. What do you guys have and what's your satisfaction with them?
  5. I would love to get a set of the ARH headers but it's a bit rich for me.
  6. I did some digging but didn't find a lot of sbc header info, at least as far as I dug.
  7. I'm in the process of getting my new 355sbc ready to go into the car and hit a snag. The Summit Racing long tube headers i bought fit terribly with the plugs and plug wires specifically #6 though #5 isn't great either. I just ordered some shorty plugs but if that doesn't take care of the issue and massaging the pipes don't work I'm cutting my losses and getting a different brand of header. I'm open to just about any brand and would like to stick to long tube but open to mid length as well. My budget is $1k and less.
  8. Yanked the rear end out to replace the bushings and make new hard lines without crawling on the floor to do it. Just waiting on the new soft line to do that.
  9. I went with a Red Head quick ratio box on mine. I'm pleased with its performance.
  10. Doesn't a Chevelle roof work with some work?
  11. I bought the quickest one they offered at the time which was like 10 years ago so I don't remember exactly. I liked it enough to go back to them for a box for my K5 Blazer cross over conversion.
  12. I went with a Red Head Steering quick ratio box on mine. It bolted right in. https://redheadsteeringgears.com/shop?year=1972&make=Chevrolet&model=Monte Carlo&options=24&options=28
  13. Wait until you do a spring upgrade, quick ratio steering box and improve the caster and camber.
  14. I do recall that the larger line that goes up to the manifold originally went into a tee fitting that was also plumbed to the the PCV and then routed to the carb. It's the small line that because of the carb change that's been stumping me as to where to route it.
  15. Thanks, I'm trying to figure out where to plumb it to the Holley carb that's on it now.
  16. It's packed away for our upcoming move. The engine is the original 350 but with a Holley and open element filter.
  17. I removed the charcoal canister on my 71 years ago when I swapped over to a Holley carb. I'm thinking about reinstalling it but have no idea on where the purge valve hose routes to on the engine side. I searched this site and Googled for a couple hours yesterday and didn't find the answer I needed.
  18. I used these guys with great results. https://redheadsteeringgears.com/shop?year=1971&make=Chevrolet&model=Monte Carlo&options=24&options=29
  19. I've had decent luck with a properly rebuilt Quadrajet on stock or slightly modified engines> Edelbrock/Carter AFB I've had decent luck with on stock to slightly modified engines but not so much on a more modified engine. Holleys I haven't used it on a modified engine but have had decent luck on a stock engine.
  20. I've been running BFG KO and KO2s on my Silverado 2500 since 2006. I'm on the third set on the truck and usually meet or surpass the mileage rating.
