  1. I really like the power and response. in my mind I kind of miss the old school 350 but the 5.3 has been a blast to drive. I bet the 5.3 makes the 84 c-10 get up and go. I like that body style.
  2. Michael I had something similar to that but with out the shroud. I like the look with the shroud it fills the big space in front of the engine.
  3. This is what Bill was referring to. I wish i could make this work some how.

  5. Bill that's a good point, Ill check the temp behind the radiator with the fans on and off and see what the difference is. The fan I use puts out 3500 CFM so i'm expecting to see a big difference. Thanks for the info.
  6. I'll look for that episode and check it out. I was also thinking of using the piece off a 89 Iroc Z but I'm not sure the hood would close. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v697/unionfootball067/7316_182009123708_635153708_3924620.jpg Bill do you think there would be a difference in air temp if the filter was behind the radiator as opposed to the filter on top of a carburetor?
  7. So I have been searching for am Air filter that balances out the engine compartment. After the LS conversion I bought a $60 "cold air intake" for a Chevy truck, it works just fine but it looks a little out of place and the eye is drawn to the tube not the motor. A friend Had a K&N filter off a 98-02 Camaro that he had no use for, so he gave it to me to try out. I would like to know your opinions, Or if you have any ideas of other filters that might work. so let me hear them lol.

  10. WOW i really like the fitment and looks
  11. Let me back up a little, I first tried the stock truck manifolds, both sides it the frame, I bought some 04 GTO manifolds with down pipes and bung, the driver side fit with some grinding the passenger side would not fit, I tried two different after market headers and had no secures. Finally the 2010 camaro manifolds worked and I used the GTO down pipes with bung for o2 sensors.
  12. I tried two set of headers and a set of truck manifolds before i decided to just go with 2010 camaro exhaust manifolds. Perfect fit and they work great

    5.3 install???

The radiator i had was a 3 core so i used it, as for the hoses the stock upper hose i used for the lower hose on the 5.3 I think i had to cut off 2". for the upper hose I bought one for a 2002 Chevy truck
  14. From 2014 and up Chevy used a LT based motor which is a lot more complected then the LS format. My two cents, the only thing good on it is the accessories and those can only be used on a block 2014 and newer. the inside of the motor my have other issues.
  15. Cody sorry for the late reply, The mounts i got are adjustable, I had to use the holes further-est to the back because the shallow part of the pan towards the front would hit the steering. I was hoping to move the motor up a little but it didn't work out.
  16. James Ill try and post a pic or two of the system all put together. Dennis Detent is installed and a blast to drive.
  17. James, this summer I installed the Classic auto air Perfect fit system in my non ac Monte. I have to say it was fairly simple to do. the instructions are easy to follow. I told them it was for a Monte and they sent the hoses non crimped. and they also had a LS kit cause I was adding it to a 5.3L. Give Greg a call and he will do his best to answer any questions. BTW It's a huge difference driving the Monte with AC. i still like rolling down the windows and letting the sir flow But i really love that cold air that system puts out. Dennis thanks for your help we had talked about this a year ago and i finally did it.
  18. I used a oil pan from a Cadillac CTV, LSXmotor mounts from E-bay
  19. this weekend i installed the ratchet detent from Shift Works now i can hammer thru all four gears.
  20. Well I really didn't post what the problem is, so let me start from the beginning. When I did the 5.3 conversion two summers ago, I need a return line for the fuel, so I ordered a after market sending unit that has a return line. The supply tube in the tank came with a small filter at the end so I dropped it in and hooked up the pump. The car ran good but I started to notice that when I had a 1/4 tank and I put my foot into it the car would stall. I thought that was normal and considered 1/4 tank as my new empty. About a week or Two ago I took the car out to play I had just a little over a 1/4 tank and thought i was safe. I got on it a little and the car stalled leaving me on the side of the road. When I got home decided to drop the tank, when I pulled the sending unit out, I was shocked the filter and a part of the supply tube were missing, I mean all I had was a 2" piece of 3/8" tube to pick up the fuel the filter and small tube were sloshing around in the tank. This explains why it would stall when I got on it the fuel would go to the back of the car and the pump would suck air. I considered buying a new tank from tanks Inc. but I'm a cheap guy and looked at other options. This weekend I installed Holly's Hydra Matt I paid $140 for it. I was a little apprehensive about it cause the 3"x15" Matt didn't look to impressive. I installed it towards the back of the tank and attached it to the short tube on the sending unit. To my surprise that little Matt works flawlessly, I took the Monte out for a drive this weekend and gave it a real good test never stalled once with 3 gallons of fuel. I give Holly Hydra Matt a thumbs up.
  21. OK so the root cause's has been identified. I installed aftermarket gauges on the A pillar ( tech and temp) they require a constant hot and a acc hot, I had them landed backwards on the fuse block. I was also getting some draw from the cig lighter so i disconnected it, and I found that the battery is dropping voltage at a very low rate. I'll get a new battery this week and hopefully my draining issues will be gone.
  22. that's a good point I'll disconnect the alternator as part of my test. It may take a week or two but I'll find the problem.
  23. Thanks for the replies my after marked radio and amp along with my gauges on the a pillar are all on a sepperate fuse block. That block has been disconnected in all my test. It is something to do with the original electrical system The batrery has been tested and it will hold a 13.6 volt charge all week disconnected. the alternator is brand new i replaced it with the 5.3l conversion. Bob ill do the test light test this week and see what happens. Steve i like the idea of a kill switch thanks
  24. Good advice Rob I'll give it a little more time and see what happens.. As for the trunk light I put mechanical toggle switch to turn it on when needed, the hood light was removed. Is it possible the light for the glove box or may be the cigarette lighter?
