  1. from that picture it does look like oil, can you get a closer picture of the porcelin? valve seal can be done with head on block. not a difficult process. thanh
  2. Jim. depends on which pump you get, you might be able to run the fuel and nitrous on 1 pump. we run 2 stages of 200shot with dead head regulators for the nos and return regulator for the carb and all on 1 pump. nos fuel pressure between 5.5 to 6psi depending on the weather. thanh
  3. Mike they do kick up a lot of dust but if you're going to do the turn down behind the tires like the Novas or Camaros, they also kick up a lot of dust. thanh
  4. this is how mine is. old picture i don't think this is what you had in mind but. thanh
  5. open end stubbies wrenches. and i put anti seize on everything that does not requires locktite. thanh
  6. go to your local drag strip, find out who they use and have one built for you. nothing beats a face to face relationship, plus it support your local business. most of the time it is cheaper too. all of our trannies from street car to our 6 second sportsman car comes from the same guy. thanh
  7. WOW, looks purdy under there, Congrats Mike. thanh
  8. looks good, details, details. Ditto on the "green is good".
  9. ditto on a local shop. 8k budget can get you a lot of motor. just make sure the shop has a good reputation and will stand behind their work. I'm building a 511bbc @ 650hp. with a budget of 3-4k. so you can get a serious motor for that kind of dough. thanh
  10. if the pan is stock depth you're fine with out the extension, but if it is a deep pan, you'll need the tube extension to keep the pick up/ filter in the fluid or you'll have problem. thanh
  11. davey. congrats, saw it on facebook. forget the CA guys. we need davey to move to the northeast. thanh
  12. ditto what davey said. also valve geometry might change. if so new push rods will be required. thanh

    Eye Candy

that bad boy should haul the mails. wicket. thanh
  14. small block, big block yada yada. most if built correctly with quality parts will make great power and last. for what you want to do is not impossible, it's just how deep is your pocket? a friend of mine is running 8.60 in the quarter mile with a twin turbo 3.8 Grand National. then he turns the boost down and drive it home from the track. 110 miles each way. so it can be done. just my 2cents thanh
  15. it was a 1 piece stainless steel race duty valves. name starts with a c. needless to say, i won't be using them again. thanh
  16. Davey. congrat on the new times. i see a chute in your future. thanh
  17. no spray. Davey. the valve broke at the stem where it was under cut, the only thing i change were new valve springs which had a little more pressure then the tired ones but not by much. besides the porting work on the heads. the builder has done few 511, BUT he had to fill the block, so it will be track only as there will be not much cooling. thanh
  18. Mike. those were speed pro forged pistons, the rods are Eagles H-beam forged rods, and that rod is slightly bent/twisted. found the valve head also, it broke into pieces, found the biggest piece in the header tube. the rest are still in the oil pan. thanh
  19. that was my 496 in the 72 monte. i'm also very suprised to see so little damage to that bore. hopefully nothing else got hurt. the head will be going to the machine shop to see if it can be repair, might go to 2.30in-1.94ex. while they're redoing the heads. the machine shop has built a few 511bbc that make 800hp so that's where i'm headed. thanh.
  20. those are gouges, i'm thinking the valve might have bounced around the engine because #2 also have broken spark plug, i'll know more this weekend. thanh
  21. David. valve failure, head just broke off. will be taken the motor apart this weekend to see if any other damages. thanh
  22. this is what happens when you loose a valve at 6000rpm. enjoy. It disappeared completely. this is the second time #7 cylinder have given up on me on diffrent engine. it did not do too much damge in the bore, now it will be bored out to a 511 for sure. valve was a brand name super duty valve and it broke on the 1st burn out. it was running darn good too. still have to take the engine apart to see if i can find the valve head. thanh
  23. i third the Morel. Crazy Davey can set you up, thanh
  24. Steve let me know when you go in Oct. take the front sway bar off. bring your jets box, couple new set of plugs of different heat range. see what we can do to sort this out. thanh
