  1. These were two friends of mine in a 71SS. Blueprint 496 motor. I was rolling my 70 with a 550hp 454 and we did some burnouts for the bikers. I was right in front of this car and saw it happen in the rearview mirror. The throttle stuck wide open. The owner hit the brakes hard but there was just too much power. Neither guy had seat belts on and are both banged up, passenger more so. We got a good look at it after, linkage was stuck open under the air cleaner. Not sure how the hell that happened. Springs wouldnt pull it back and they were new 2 years ago with the engine install. We drove these two black Montes to the Turkey Run for years and tag teamed all over Daytona. This put quite a damper on it. We had just left the track on the way to the hotel and swung by Main Street for a quick burnie. Side note, lots of cars were pulling out of the Daytona Speedway and squealing tires. The cops were pulling them over, but there were so many they ran out of cops LOL. Daytime pic back home, sad times.
  2. Joe T, are those stainless headers? I went with exact replacements for the Hooker Ceramics Comps that were on there and they are now made in China and the finish is horrific. I want to change them out.
  3. Thomas, such a simple idea, wish I would have thought of that when i had the engine out. DANG. BUT, I guess if the lines are coming out its game on for moving it like you did. Thank you.
  4. I have a 1970 with disc front, rear drum. The rears need rebuilding but since i have bumped the car up to a 454 with 550hp i thought it more prudent to just bite the bullet and go disc on the rear So, I have a buddy that has done a bunch of these on Fords and Chevies. He told me to remove or gut the proportional valve as its no longer needed on four wheel disc. Seems like we would still need some bias towards the front, but I dont know. So thats my first question. ANd the hold off valve...would also go? He wasnt familiar with that so I just throw it out there for feedback/intel. Second question is, I want to move the proportional valve (assuming it stays in one form or another) up to the booster and get it off the frame so i can have better header clearance. All my lines are original so Im thinking its time to replace them, and they are really cheap from Inline Tube. SO, my question is, if i order the line set for the 71-72 car, would that fit to what I am trying to do? Thanks in advance for your help. Mike
  5. Hey BobW, i just took another look at mine, its a dual 9", not a dual 10". Still outperforms better than factory 11" single
  6. Bob Weis, Im pretty sure I got it from Summit. They have a lot of different sizes. The original 11" has 95 square inches of surface area. A dual 9 inch that i just looked at on summit, has 126 inches of surface area. Just noticed you are in Astatula, stop by and see! Looks original. Im considering going with rear disc right now so some things might change but that booster will stay.
  7. I went with a dual diaphragm 10". Gives more surface area, so more stopping power. Also gives clearance for any engines with roller rockers.
  8. I have 12v to my orange wire into the brake pedal switch, and 12V out when pedal is pushed. I see the wiring diagram says the white wire from the switch goes to the directional but I find nothing after that in the manual. I have running lights and turn signals working. Directional switch is original, but before i [censored]can it I would like to make sure thats it rather than be a parts changer. Hate that. I also own the shop manual so if you seen something in that let me know, i might have missed it. Thanks gents.
  9. Thats what I thought, but I wanted to be polite so I just cracked another beer open and nodded my head. That orange car was gorgeous though, gotta tell ya. I prefer the hardtop myself. It went up for sale at Mecum Kissimmee this past January. Hit $37,000 before they pulled it, didnt hit the reserve.
  10. So I went to the Daytona Spring Rod Run with my 70 and as always a bunch of folks swing by to chat about one they had, or have. One guy mentioned seeing a convertible previously and I saw that metallic bronze orange thing? I didnt know what to call the color, it was nice though. He said yes. I commented about what a great job he did, it looks like a factory original job. He said "It was, Chevy made 500 of them and contracted an outfit to do it, bolster up some metal, chevelle tops, etc...." Is that true? I never heard that before, always thought the two I have seen were done by some creative folks. This is the picture of the one i saw at the Turkey Run a few years ago.
  11. Hi folks. I am about to embark on freshening up my 1970 dash. Most of my lights are out, temp, fuel, and amp gauges do not work. Never have in the 10 years I have owned the car. Some cheesewhiz pulled out the factory clock and put in an LED Clock at some time. That doesnt work either, and it looks stupid. Not sure if they botched up all the gauges at that time, so I would like to be able to test them. Should I be able to just run 12v thru a potentiometer and sweep the needle with the varying voltage? It would seem to be ok for the temp and fuel at least. NOt sure if there is a better way. THanks much.

    BB Headers

I dont think i saw an answer to this, Can these headers be installed with a big block 454 in the vehicle?

    BB Headers

Does anyone know if these ARH headers can be installed with the engine in the car?
