  1. Replaced the driver side donut with a metal one. Found one of the studs had loosened up causing the donut to blow out. Then my son and I took it and the Model A to a car cruise at an independently owned auto parts store that is closong at the end of the month. I have getting most of my auto parts there for almost 45 years. rob
  2. Sam is right, it was a map light mirror. If the mirror is still there and in decent shapr it may be worth salvaging to restore it. It wasn't a super rare option but it was an option just the same. rob
  3. Cory, you are right, shouldn't need to be repairing an engine with only 3700 miles on her. Was it a cracked intake, bad gasket, bad stud or what? Sorry you weren't able to make the Eastern Meet. tob
  4. It sounds to me like soneone may have used Armor-All, or another product like it, on the interior at some point in time. That stuff (junk in some peoples mind) will lay a nice shine on vinyl parts but will turn gummy after awhile. I would try a quality leather\vinyl cleaner on them. Rob
  5. Your negative battery cable should have a short wire coming off of it at the battery terminal clamp. That wire should attach to the passenger fender with a screw or bolt. If it is missing it wi.. cause the symptoms you describe. rob
  6. Did anyone notice that all but one of the knight pictures were our President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer? rob
  7. Here are the rest of my pictures..... Would have posted them last night but I have picked up a nasty bug and ended up in bed by 8:30. Bug still with me but I will try to get the rest of my pictures posted now. Rob
  8. I totally agree, which is pretty much what I said in my closing speach at the awards dinner but to a smaller audience than here on the boards. rob
  9. I totally agree, which is pretty much what I said in my closing speach at the awards dinner but to a smaller audience than here on the boards. rob
  10. I picked up your plaque, along with all of the other unclaimed ones from the club and gave them to Scott who will send them out to the winners. rob
  11. Congratulations to all the club and GM Nationals Winners. Also thanks for everyone for helping to win the club participation award and the coolest club hangout. I can tell you that normally the Impala group were upset that we won the club participation award because normally they have a lock on that award. The real bonus about beating them out is FGMCC only spans 3 years and the Impala been out there 10 generations and almost 50 years. NOT TOO SHABBY FIRST GEN MONTE CARLO CLUB!!! rob
  12. I would have to decline that nomination. Thank you all for your very kind words. Scott is right, it is a ton of work to pull it off right. As yet, I have not heard of any complaints on anything....... with the exception of the weather but in the end we did not let that "dampen" our spirits, we simply reworked our itinerary and detoured around it and had a great time in spite of the weather. If anything, Saturday's weather forced us to have a more relaxing day which was great. The driving games were a blast with the bonus go-cart race during the Poker Run. I am glad everyone had a good time. If anyone did have any problems that were not addressed by me, Carlisle Events, the hotel, Awards Dinner restaurant or any other area of the Eastern Meet please let me know so in the future these things can be avoided or corrected. There is no way Scott or myself or for that matter any Meet Director to improve on these meets unless we are made aware of these issues. You can send me a PM with any issues you may have had. Again, thanks for all of the kind words. Rob
  13. Now that is a group I would cross to the other side of the street to avoid walking past. Just kidding, not the entire group. Great looking crew. rob
  14. Nice new badge you have there Larry rob
  15. Sorry Everyone but Scott is going to post all of the winners for the awards. He was waiting to get this information from me. Scott will be posting them as soon as he gets a chance, keep posted!! rob
  16. Thank you Sam but just a note, the color of mine is Astro Blue.... Misty Turquoise is the coloUr of Aaron's but it is the thought that counts, right? Rob
  17. The hotel is very good to us. We have been going there since the year after they opened. Out of all of the groups who stay there, they have told us that we are their favorite. We always clean up after ourselves and always behave ourselves, unlike some groups. We even stay there in the off years of the eastern meet. By the same token, the Carlisle Events LOVE us too. Can you imagine what that show field would have looked like Friday if the FGMCC had not been present. According to the Carlisle Events Staff, we had 47 members with cars registered in the club name, the next closest group was the Impala club with I think they said they had a total of 27 or 28 cars registered..... not bad since the Impala club recognizes all years of Impala and we only span 3 years..... do the math yourself, are we good or what!!!!! Rob
  18. I put the new insurance card in the glove box. Started to take her out of the garage and true to her past "rain-maker" title she made it start to rain. Oh Well, I will be able to drive her plenty this week. rob
  19. Coming along very nicely. I admire your vision and how you are making it reality. Rob
  20. I looked at it like this.... my original plastic ones lasted 32 years, which aint too bad, and other than being cracked they still looked nice and clean, not sure metal ones would have held up any better. As for the battery bouncing around and cracking the plastic ones.....fix the battery hold down clamp and tray. It does come down to preference. I went with the plastic due to keeping the original theme but fully understand someone going with metal. rob
  21. I think it would really crap up the engine compartment. Just look at what gathers on the underside of the inner fender wells. Without them in place all of that would not only collect in the engine compartment but also under the fenders and all over the firewall. rob
  22. Fletch will be back this year.... maybe I can put a little bug in his year if I see him. rob
